Sonic lured us in with special deals on the app. Password recovery was not working for me (no email link arrived; even checked spam), so I invited my wife to create an account and make our order. All told, we invested about 30 minutes getting to the point of order — and this wasn’t due to any ordering indecision. It’s just a clumsy app. In the end, since the app wouldn’t display prices, we decided to get to Sonic first before checking out.
We arrived at the store and tried to check out, but the app bombed. No amount of coercion helped the app do what we needed it to do. So we gave up and decided to go “old school” with the red button.
Unfortunately, each call box had a sign taped next to it saying that they’re having audio problems, and that if we simply push the button, a carhop will personally visit us for our order. (The signs were old, suggesting that this is old news, and they have no intention of fixing the problem.) After pushing the button and waiting a very long time, no one came out, so we gave up — strike 2! — and headed to the drive through.
The drive-through line took forever as well. (Clearly, they are understaffed.) After the cashier dropped my credit card on the pavement, I worked the gymnastics of opening my door only a few inches (to avoid hitting the transaction booth), and somehow getting my arm out to grab the card. She was apologetic. I understand accidents, that’s fine. But she said this was her second time today dropping cards, so maybe she's overworked, too.
Finally, the food came. There was nowhere at Sonic to park, so we drove away to a nearby city park — only to discover, to our horror, as we ate sloppy, greasy food — delicious, btw! — that in our 3-bag, $30 order, they had not provided us a single napkin.
We began ordering at 5:35. The drive there took 15 minutes, but we can subtract that out, as that has nothing to do with Sonic. By the time we had food in hand, it was 7:07. This was not a time-saver by any stretch of the imagination. Not a great family outing, either, as the kids were bouncing off the walls and mommy was...
Read moreI have been going to sonic locations all over Utah since I was a teenager. Historically it has been one of my favorite restaurants to go to. I am officially done, after multiple attempts to try to have a good experience at this location, I've ever going here again. I honestly cannot figure out what it is about this location, but over 80% of the time out of the 8 or 9 visits my wife have come here over the years, they have messed up at least one portion of our order. Cold fries, leaving something out, the list goes on. Mistakes happen, but when you wait sometimes 30 minutes for fast food, only to have a mistake there, and have to wait another 30 minutes for the fix to come out, with repeated visits turning out the same way, it gets ridiculous.
After the last time, I was actually so frustrated that I reached out to the manager through their customer service phone line, left a lengthy voicemail, wanting to discuss the situation. He never even bothered to try calling me back. As a small business owner, it is shocking that a manager of a restaurant, that clearly has such negative reviews as a whole, would be So dismissive of a customer's concerns, as to not even call them back. This after taking the time to leave them a review on their phone line, and wanting to discuss. Every other location I have been to, I am happy to say has been a great experience. But unless I were starving, I don't think I would come back to this location ever again. Avoid if you can.
The staff have usually been courteous - To me, it seems to be more of a managerial and training issue with employees, as well as a staffing issue in terms of numbers.
Management, do you even read the reviews here? Will you take the time to respond to any of them? Wito mark with so many other food options available in that area, it is shocking that this location continues to remain open, Given the negative experiences of so many reviewers here. Sonic, you guys usually do great things. Please fix...
Read moreThis location ruined Sonic for me. I have given it so many chances and left disappointed everytime. I loved the Orem one, when I lived in the area I would often stop by for a shake after work or class.
The first few times here they got my order wrong. I brushed it off thinking maybe I wasn't clear enough? Fourth time I asked if they could repeat back what I ordered. They confirmed it and I was happy... until I had a sip of my shake. I often get the "Real" banana hand-mixed shake. 4 of the times I went here it tasted and looked like vanilla soft serve with yellow banana flavored syrup over it. The taste and texture was different than any of the other Sonics I have gone to. I decided to stop ordering it and thought maybe they changed the recipe?
Most of the time going here the food has been burnt or dry as well. One time the popcorn chicken I ordered came out looking like dog kibble it was so dry and burnt and mainly batter :(
Today was my last time giving this location a shot. I haven't had a single time here that they got both my order right and the food tasted okay.
Since I gave up on the banana shakes I was hoping the Oreo shake would be better. I clarified I wanted the Oreo Sonic Blast and asked if I could have a cherry. I was charged for the cherry but there wasn't one, oh well I thought, got home and had my shake and it tasted off. I thought maybe they added something into it by mistake, checked my receipt and everything appeared to be correct. Tasted it again, and the shake tasted like...
