I'm giving this two stars because of the good experiences I've had at this store. Correct orders, polite staff, etc.
I'm not giving it the full five because of my experience tonight. My fiance ordered us dinner, took my order, put the modifications on the sandwiches correctly, paid, said it went through, etc. I went and picked up the order and brought it back to my fiance, and I found that my order was made incorrectly. I requested no tomato, no mayo, and with cheese. I got exactly the opposite: tomato, mayo, and no cheese. OK fine, whatever. I've worked in customer service and food, and I've messed up people's orders. It happens. It's a minor thing.
I called the store and explained that I got my sandwich made incorrectly, and the gentleman on the other end looked at the order and blamed us/my fiance. Instead of trying to remedy the situation, the gentleman persisted to repeat that "That;s not what I have here." I eventually just hung up because it was clear this employee was not interested in remedying the situation or making things right.
Honestly, he's probably not getting paid enough to deliver excellent customer service. I get that. But making the order correctly and correcting a problem a customer has is a bare minimum expectations of a customer service job. This isn't an employee who deserves to be fired. I think he deserves the opportunity to improve...
Read morePlaced an order for pick up. Drove 10 minutes from the office to pick up, 10 minutes back. Sandwiches have no meat. Call and told it was likely a mistake and to bring the receipt and they will remake. No big deal - mistakes happen. At this point I'm not that upset and throw the sandwiches in the trash and head 10 minutes back to the store. Staff recognizes me as I was just there 20 minutes ago and ask to see the sandwiches. I explain that I just drove from the office and was not told on the phone to bring sandwiches in and offered the pictures that I had taken as an alternative. The staff refuses this alternative and will not do anything unless I bring the sandwiches back. I should have just contacted the credit card company and done a stop charge at this point but out of principle I drive 10 minutes back to the office, grab the sandwiches out of the trash, 10 minutes back to the store and hand them the sandwiches. After they do their forensic science on the sandwiches and determine I am, in fact, not lying, they agree to remake my sandwiches. I am 45+ minutes into the fiasco at this point. Angry and needing to get back to work, I just take the remade sandwiches and finish with it.
Food and taste was what you would expect out of Jimmy Johns anyway.
TLDR: Only order in store if you have time. If they mess up your order, it may not be fixed...
Read moreJimmy John's on S. Duff in Ames is as close to the company motto as a store can get. Freaky Fast Fresh. This sandwich shop sticks to the traditions that Jimmy John himself strove to develop from the beginning stores history in Charleston IL. When the simple 4 sandwich selection and 25 cent cups of soda paved the road of simplicity and his bread recipe drove the idea to the finish line. Additions over the years have not negatively affected brand image because, those additions to the menu we're simplistic and flowed into the companies vision seamlessly. This allows the core principals to remain centered around efficiency, taste, and consistency. With the addition of a drive-thru service you can grab a sandwich even faster than before. So I would recommend this to anyone that was looking for fast, freaky fresh lunch, or an evening delivery on those nights that simplicity suites your mood and the taste satisfies the...
