Vito's Pizza Pie — Restaurant in Amesbury

Feeling a bit sad about all the Pizza being sold theses days (watered down sauce, artificial cheese and the lack of the "Papa Gino's" flavored seasonings), We were attracted by the reviews and ordered two large cheese pizzas for delivery. They said 30 minutes or so for delivery. We eagerly awaited the delivery and to our amazement it arrived in less than 20 minutes! Upon opening, we saw a really nice looking pizza. The rim had a nice fold of crispy dough with just a few sections of black/burned crust. It looked like a nice red tomato sauce and a decent amount of cheese. We had to use a pizza cutter to separate the slices, each cut was met with a crunch and snap. The bottom of both pizzas were over-cooked, The underside was a very dark brown and it took away from the taste of an otherwise nice sweet tomato sauce. We ended up scraping off and eating the sauce/cheese with a fork and discarding the over-cooked dough. We will try Vito's again, but I will order it 3/4 cooked the next time and hopefully report a better review. Other than the above, I would like a bit more flavor and would recommend...

I had to do a painting job in Amesbury which is about an hour and 20 minutes from my home. I stayed in the empty condo that I was painting I found Vito's Pizza and Sub Shop and I ate there 6 nights in a row.. I'm an older man and this had the best pizza that I've ever had. So was the Steak and Cheese sub which is more than filling, the service there was excellent and I don't see that in many places that I go to eat. I'm just sorry to say that I won't be able to go there on a regular basis if at all because it's so far away. Try it I'll guarantee that you'll love it. We are from out of town, but wish we were local just to be able to visit again!! Stopped in with my husband and son and was so warmly taken care of. Most people got takeout, but the woman working the counter gave us the VIP treatment. The food was delicious and out quickly with generous portion sizes. She even brought us an adorable baby-sized ice cream sandwich for my little man, on the house. Based on the way she was chatting to and about the other costumers to the staff, they not only have great food but also care a lot about their local community.
