I am so disappointed in my last few experiences here at Keno's. The first few times I ate here it was great! But this year it's been horrid every single time. There was an instance back in January where my girlfriend and I got breakfast to go. Our pancakes were barely cooked, with pools of raw batter in the center. We asked for our hashbrowns to be extra crispy, they gave us raw potato. I let it slide that time because what was I going to do, drive all the way back and whine? But this time today was infuriating. I don't know if there just isn't a manager present at all but there was absolutely zero delegation among employees and I watched them lose about 9 customers because of it. The hostesses at the front desk were prioritizing phone calls over people who were standing in the lobby. No greetings, no "I'll be with you in a moment!" Just plain ignoring these people until they turned around and left. This happened four times. My girlfriend and I had already put our names in and had been waiting for about twenty minutes. We saw customers leave, but the hostess was too busy trying to bag up phone orders to seat us. Finally a new crowd walked in, and the first couple was seated immediately, skipping over us. I hollered "excuse me?!" and I was ignored, so we left. You need to have someone posted at the front desk helping customers who walk in. You left everyone standing around staring at you while you already had five people waiting around to help with phone orders. Your disorganization cost you a lot of business today. It isn't fair to your employees either to have them feel like they need to be doing ten things at once. Give everyone a roll and have them stick to it. People can understand when it's busy, but not when your entire staff is running around in...
Read moreI’ve been a ‘regular' at Keno’s for more than 20 years. I’ve tried most everything on the menu and haven’t found anything that wasn’t just wonderful. Now that we are seniors my husband and I have even gone to Keno’s on holidays and had their special holiday meals which have been fabulous. This past Valentine’s Day we got take-out meals of their Valentine special of a half rack of lamb and it was better than any we have had in any restaurant!! Breakfasts are the bomb, best pancakes around and omelettes are amazing. Lunchtime we always get soup of the day as it is homemade right there at the restaurant and is the best soup in town. Our favorites, are the chicken tortilla and lentil. Paired with a club sandwich, burger or delicious salad and you’re all set. They have a variety of awesome dinner entrees too. The Tuesday night special of fried chicken is known as the best in the city. They have so many wonderful comfort foods as well. You just have to experience it for yourself. Can’t leave a review of Keno’s without mentioning the staff. Owner Steve Cooper is involved in the daily operation of the restaurant and is known to all the regulars. He’s very visible and friendly. His manager, Renee runs a tight ship as we have never had to send a meal back to the kitchen or had a complaint about service. The servers, chefs, and busboys have been there forever and are like one big family. We love them all but Roman and Alma are our favorites. If you’re looking for a great meal, a comfortable atmosphere, wonderful service and a relaxing experience, give Keno’s a try. You’ll be back...we’ve been coming...
Read morewent to Keno's today and ordered the ribeye special. I ordered it cooked medium rare. However, when the steak came it was rare. I gave the steak back for them to cook it a little longer and when it came back it was overcooked. So needless to say I sent it back again and a women by the name of Shawna whom I presume is the current manger came out and informed me that it is cooked medium rare. She automatically started arguing with with me, and not once did she apologize for the rare steak to begin with. Well needless to say I requested a medium rare steak and was told that I needed a rare one. Well it was rare when I recieved it but I figured I could just take it home and cook it myself. Well Shawna came back to the table after I asked to speak to a manager and said that she had gone through 3 steaks. Which was a lie as my original steak was collected thrown on the grill and brought back to me overcooked. This I know as the knife marks matched what I created. However, once I sent that back you did bring me a rare steak. Shawna stated and I quote " I am not giving you a free steak and maybe next time you should order something else." What made her think I wanted a free steak? Let me preface I am a frequent customer and have never had a problem in to 17 years that Ihave been coming here. Was it the color of my skin who knows. No Shawna I did not want or need a free steak. What I wanted if you had bothered to listen was an apology. I have never been so insulted at a restaurant in my life. So if this is what Keno's now calls customer service, I say...
