First of all, the coffee was wonderful and the service was excellent. The drink lid are awkward to use. Clunky and just different. Hey, it’s just my opinion. I’d recommend using something very similar to an organization that sells MILLIONS of cups of coffee a day with proven research like say Starbucks lids. Anyway, the reason for three stars and not 5 like they would have gotten… I’d suggest most people value their freedom of belief and do not appreciate being subjected to unsolicited religious views, especially in a public space such as a coffee shop. While employees are entitled to their own beliefs, customers expect to receive courteous and respectful service without being subjected to religious dogma or any other form of personal opinion. Having biblical verses written on my coffee sleeve “put a bad taste” in my mouth. Ultimately, customers should be able to enjoy their coffee without feeling uncomfortable or pressured to engage in religious discussions or material from indoctrinated employees. If this is company policy or ownership insistence to force religious beliefs onto the public then so be it. It is, after all, their right. I can take my business elsewhere. Here are a few tenets those at Java Time surely agree with as well; and we as humans could all strive for.
One should strive to act with compassion and empathy towards all creatures in accordance with reason. The struggle for justice is an ongoing and a necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions. One's body is inviolable, subject to one's own will alone. The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own. Beliefs should conform to one's best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one's beliefs. People are fallible. If one makes a mistake, one should do one's best to rectify it and resolve any harm that might have been caused. Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word. One should strive to act with care and compassion towards fellow human beings. The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and...
Read moreI was down in Andalusia for 6 weeks and when I tell you that this coffee saved my life, I’m not joking. I was pretty sure I was going to pass away from a lack of good coffee, and after I had a particularly bad day I went ahead and said “ah nuts to this” and drove to the nearest coffee place around 30 minutes away (this place). The lady at the counter was a lovely young woman with brown hair in a ponytail and she was, no kidding, the first person in three weeks to honestly ask me how my day was and was very sweet. She then proceeded to make for me the best cold brew that has probably ever passed my lips. This place is fantastic and if you’re in Andalusia I couldn’t...
Read moreWhile I really enjoy the coffee and crepes at JavaTime, I had a disappointing experience there the other day. As I went through the drive thru I was on my phone, which playing through the bluetooth in my car. An employee of the establishment apparently heard my conversation and, because it is a small town, knew who I was talking to/what I was talking about. She then proceeded to repeat this obviously private conversation to a member of my family, causing unnecessary tension in my close circle. Like I said, I really like JavaTime’s product, but this experience will keep me from returning. I hope the owners remedy...
