EDIT - 2024: So the donuts have gotten better. They are back to being yummy again, and are probably the best in Shasta County overall. But I'm still bummed they cut the size basically in half from what they used to be. But I'm going to bump their stars back up because the taste and texture is better than any other place in town.
EDIT - 2021: Boy, this place has really gone downhill. Their donuts used to be amazing, and humongous, but they've really been sliding over the past couple of years. The donuts are significantly smaller and they don't taste nearly as good. I'm not sure what changed but I don't enjoy going here like I used to.
OLD REVIEW from 2017: I've eaten donuts in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver Canada, Dallas, Orlando... Jack's Donuts is on par, if not better than donuts at all these other places. Not only do you get a huge bang for your buck (great prices/massive donuts), but the donuts are delicious! Easily the best in Shasta County.
I would definitely recommend driving out of your way to come here. It's totally worth it. As for local competition, Heavenly Donuts and Krispy Kreme have NOTHING on Jack's. Not even in the...
Read moreFirst let me say that we have always been a loyal family of Jack's ..Their donuts were always delicious and they never skimped on the fillings. However, some of us are Apple Fritter people and today my husband bought 4 of them to the tune of $13.20 so ya, not cheap by any means! Boy were we let down.. they were greasy and sugary but as far as any flavor- not so much! There was only a few teeny, tiny pieces of apple and believe me I looked hard to figure out why they were so flavorless! Hardly any spice either. An expensive fried, blob of dough with a sugar glaze! I called to let them know and her answer was "Oh" - so definitely not the response I was hoping for! Let's face it- we all understand shrinkflation, but when you are part of a community for as long as Jack's has been around with a loyal following - I would think that you wouldn't want to cut ingredients that much especially when you're charging $3.30 per fritter!!! Also, would be nice to value your customers' concerns and try to...
Read moreI would really like to give this place a 5 because it has delicious donuts. Unfortunately the service I received this past Friday morning was disgusting my friend who takes her kids there often who buys 3 dozen donuts every time she's here. well her 10 year old son dropped his donut and when asking the woman for another one, received silence and a dirty look and she refused to give him the donut he nicly asked for. she treated him so terrible that it actually made him sad on the way to school and ruined his Good Friday morning he was spending with his mom before she had to go to work it was so upsetting his mom even said something to the woman and sadly it's not the same woman that's usually there that lady is always a sweet heart hate to say but ruined my experience enough to keep me away for awhile. If you work at a donut shop you should bring people happiness not take your stress...
