If I could, I would give zero stars. The food here is outrageously overpriced, with very little variety, and I have personally witnessed staff throwing away perfectly good food on multiple occasions. In today’s world, where food is a basic necessity and food insecurity is a real issue, it is unacceptable and deeply disappointing to see such waste—especially under the University of Michigan, an institution that should be setting a higher standard. Instead of discarding edible food, the university should be providing it free of charge to students, many of whom are overwhelmed with lab work and academic commitments. This would save them time, reduce financial strain, and show that the university truly cares about student well-being. At the very least, the food should be donated to Maize and Blue Cupboard to make groceries more affordable for students, or sent to local food shelters where it could make a real difference in people’s lives.
