This is my current favorite bubble tea place in Ann Arbor. I enjoy their berry tea with the special yogurt. The yogurt is so creamy and delicious. Their fruit teas are made with REAL fruit. The reviews that say they are not are wrong. You can see the pre-measured cups filled with real fruit in their fridge and they take them out to order. No jams or syrups are used with them unless you want them sweeter. For instance, a grapefruit tea is going to be bitter by default because that is the nature of the fruit. They also use organic real milk (not a powdered milk) for their teas. They don't even advertise this but I saw them take out the organic milk from the fridge.
They also have this amazing super strong oolong tea called DaHongPao, it's my favorite oolong so far from a local bubble tea place. I order it with cheese foam and their boba (which is truly QQ) and am so happy.
I feel like the negative reviews aren't true. I go there consistently and they absolutely fresh fruit every time, no evidence of any fruit syrups. They only have the sugar syrup if fresh fruit isn't sweet enough for you.
The reviews saying there's not real fruit is ridiculous because there's pieces of fruit...
Read moreI gave this place two tries, and never again. I thought perhaps it was just that I ordered something new the first time, but yesterday I ordered my standard - a milk tea with boba - and it was absolutely terrible. My friend's drink wasn't just bad, it was undrinkable. We threw them out and went to Chatime.
In addition to the drinks tasting bad, they spill the drinks all over the outside of the container, they have no useful descriptions on the kiosks (and, the first time I was there, I was told I COULDN'T order at the counter, but that I HAD to use the kiosk), and it's super expensive. I spent almost $8 (including a $1 tip) for a drink.
It's unfortunate cause I work nearby and I love boba, but this place is a joke. If there weren't at least nine other boba places in town, you might have a shot. But you can't be this miserably bad if you have that much competition. (Granted, I wouldn't go here even if it was the only one.)
I guess in the positives: one of the people working there yesterday was friendly, and the cup lids are neat. I do appreciate that they don't do the sealed plastic cap (I know it's like traditional or whatever, but I...
Read moreThe boba is just average, but it's incredibly overpriced. The ambiance is pretty terrible - the inside is dirty and there are just stacks of cartons everywhere.
I wanted to highlight two aspects of the experience here that really speak to how horrible of a person the owner of this location is:
Despite generating an ungodly amount of plastic waste, this location very aggressively refuses to have a trashcan in the store. Instead, they insist that you go find a trashcan outside owned by the plaza since they don't want to deal with any of the trash their store generates. I'm surprised they haven't gotten into trouble with their landlord or the plaza yet.
Ordering tea is the most sterile experience here. There is no one to take your order and instead you use kiosk machines. The 1-2 store employees are siloed off with a plastic protective barricade and usually have headphones in and will not speak to you.
Both the trashcan situation and the kiosk ordering system are designed so this location can hire the least number of staff possible to run the location with a...
