Kimchi Box — Restaurant in Ann Arbor

(Background: My son is deathly allergic to sesame. We found out after he ate some tahini when he was 2 and ended up in the emergency room.)

I called ahead before placing an order for my birthday to ensure there weren't allergens in our food. The manager kindly confirmed no egg or sesame in the chicken or sauces, but they put sesame seeds on top of the soy garlic wings. But I could add a memo requesting no sesame. I did this.

We got the wings for my birthday party, and no sesame seeds easily visible on top of the pile. Everyone is eating, and about halfway through sesame seeds everywhere. We then spent the last half of my birthday monitoring my son with an epi pen waiting for the possibilty that he will need to go to the hospital.

Thankfully he's ok.

Seoul Street would never have done this. Their wings were better. Kimchi Box changed the recipes and while they're still good, they're not as good.

But never again will I order there...

Kimchi Box has very Authentic Korean dishes fermented Kimchi is great tasting, chicken wings have a 5 star worthy crunch and nice sized chicken for the price is for sure worth every dollar. Soy garlic sauce had the perfect balance of garlic butter sweetness complimenting the awesome chicken wings. The kimchi chicken sandwich was great ill definitely repeat my order. The japchae combo with pickled radishes and beef, packed with flavor and rice noodles had a delicious texture worth a trip for a pocket friendly lunch. I ordered the kimchi fries and the bibimbap for carry out. It was done 15mins before my selected pick up time. The food was okay, I used the get kimchi fries when it was Seoul street. These ones are okay but don’t compare, they have a nice spice but they get oddly sweet. The bibimbap was not what I was expecting, again a usual dish of mine but this contains corn, black beans and chunks of lettuce, Making it feel way more like a burrito. Not sure if other places do it like this but I have never had bibimbap like this. Flavor wise again just okay. The beef has a lovely texture.
