Tried out this new location last week with some American friends. Service was good in both languages and the staff were very accommodating of my friend with food allergies. They were knowledgeable about the options and willing to check with the kitchen to ensure no contamination. We were also able to acquire extra sets of chopsticks and spoons for serving to prevent possible contamination by other sauces at the table (sauces may contain peanut, etc and self-service sauce bar, though clean, is not safe from cross contamination). One thing to note is that all tables have a communal pot in the center, which not all Americans are comfortable with in my experience. Of course it is sanitary to do so as the water maintains boiling very often. Menu was slightly modified due to recent opening but it seems to have a good and authentic selection of hot pot items when it is fully open (pretty much only hot pot, though there is also some dessert). Overall was a good experience in a convenient location and the flavors reminded me of home. Would love to come back to try their various tripe options and spicy pot if there is a chance in the future. I would add that the smell inside was reminiscent of some kind of cheap spicy snacks which may be unpleasant for some people but this did not really affect our enjoyment...
Read moreWe came here for the first time right after our conference at the University of Michigan, and it was the perfect way to wrap up a productive day. The hotpot experience was wonderful from the vibrant, welcoming ambiance to the beautifully arranged fresh and a variety of ingredients. The broth was flavorful and comforting, with both spicy and mild options to satisfy everyone’s taste.
The service was attentive and friendly, and the setup made it easy for all of us to relax and enjoy cooking together at the table. It was a joyful, communal meal that brought everyone together.
We especially loved the high quality of the meats, tofu, lotus root, and greens, all of which were fresh and delicious. This spot will be a go-to for us whenever we’re back in Ann Arbor. Highly recommended for group dinners and...
Read moreThis is my third time coming here and had another great experience. I have only been to AYCE hotpot here and was worried it would it be really expensive. We got about $60 worth of food and we were struggling to finish it all (which is about the same price as AYCE). I’ve gotten the one meter beef every time which is literally a meter long platter of beef. I also love the fish filets, shrimp paste, and hand cut noodles. We got 2 soup bases: the mild (which was a good amount of numbing spice) and tomato. They give you a pitcher of water at the table which is really convenient to help the spice. Staff was super attentive and friendly too. This place is just up the hill from north campus, so it’s a super convenient location. Will definitely be back again.
Their malatang to go is also...
