One of my favorite things about traveling is finding independent coffee roasters and shops. Their set-up is simple: one door in another door out, picnic tables on the yard if you want to sit. Looks like the line frequently extends outside but they keep it moving. I ordered one of my usuals, dirty chai, and was really pleased when they asked if I wanted it sweetened, as chai in a lot of places means syrup or presweetened mix that is sweeter than I prefer. Customization is my favorite thing! I also bought a bag of Lobster Butter to take home and just made a pour-over that is delicious. I was at first put off because the heavenly scent of the beans wasn't very strong once brewed, but the cup is wonderful, dark and buttery. Also, I might have been imagining it but I think we could smell the roasting beans from the front yard!

RoosRoast Coffee at Rosewood is an absolute gem. The coffee is top-notch, consistently rich and flavorful, whether you’re sipping an espresso or enjoying a cold brew. The staff are friendly and welcoming, always making you feel at home. The patio is a great spot to relax, perfect for sunny mornings or cozy afternoons. Inside, there are cool nooks and creative decor, making it feel both vibrant and laid-back. It’s a great place to bring a book or your laptop and settle in for a while. The overall atmosphere is inviting and fun. Definitely a spot I’d recommend to any coffee lover! The Journal book Idea is such an awesome idea, brought a smile when I read some pages.

I loved the outdoors with flowers and the picnic benches giving a very laid back and relaxing vibe. We got an iced Vietnamese coffee and a hot mocha. Both drinks were great! The staff was very sweet as they entertained us even if we showed up when the shop was about to close in 10min(we were the last ones to place our order) but they did not make us feel so. The apple trees and extra seating on the side is nice but the apples are all infested and it would be ideal if it was taken care of but it was a good experience. I loved the old Remington typewriter they have kept next to the wait line, reminding us of simpler times.

They say it themselves, "This coffee is an experience." They're right it really is!

Their menu has plenty of options- quite possibly something for everyone in your family. The coffee is great! I order the same thing every time because I'm that kind of person, but I love how nuanced every cup is. I always look forward to the next visit because of the subtlety. I haven't tried the food (yet), but based on how frequently you hear, "Cheesy P!" you know it's good. 😂

Their staff are friendly, unpretentious, and very accommodating. I overheard an employee helpfully offer to make a drink "like Starbucks" for a customer. You gotta appreciate that level of thoughtfulness & accessibility! I dropped my coffee as I got to my car once :( I went back inside, embarrassed, but ready to buy another. They remade my drink without hesitation- free of charge, no questions asked! 🥲

You can get coffee everywhere these days, but this place is one of a kind! From the lobsters 🦞, to Pac-Man, the Datsun, and everything else in between.

For the detail-oriented planners: Car folks can park (free) along the building, in the back, or on the street. Don't park where you're not supposed to though- check for the signs! The street can get busy at times as it's just off a light industrial area. (Many people walk/bike and you'll frequently see others with kids and/or dogs, so keep...

I love coming to the Rosewood location versus Liberty as it is quieter, easier to park, and you have more room outside to sit and enjoy the weather (no matter even if it is raining) & your coffee. There are 3 sizes to the cappucino now for everyone’s needs - the small, the next size up from the traditional, is like a latte but with a stronger coffee flavor. They use Calder’s dairy and Oatly for oat milk - the best brands for dairy and a milk alternative in my opinion. You can taste the difference! The baked goods are consistently delicious - a little on the pricey side which is why I would give 4 stars but 5 stars for taste! I like that they rotate bakeries as well. The staff are kind & friendly - I’ve never had a bad experience. I like that I can ask them how they are and that they do the same - even if it’s a busier day. Those little moments of connection are precious and have helped me through some challenging times & this place was a source of comfort where I could escape. It’s quirky, eco-friendly, and yummy. If you come to AA, you have to make...

My go-to spot for coffee in Ann Arbor! I moved here during the pandemic so I haven't properly experienced it, but it's still a fantastic spot. The foundation of a good coffee shop is excellent coffee; simple in concept but hard to nail. I think Roos Roast absolutely nails this. Their selection is fantastic (my personal faves are Rich French Neighbor and Lobster Butter Love) and is well sourced. In my experience, most of their roasts are in the medium-dark range. They've also got great baked treats from other local businesses.

Something that really struck me about the business is their attention to detail and sustainability-- solar panels on the roof, compostable single-use cups. The first time I ever came in, the owner had just ridden in on his bike. He went out of his way to welcome me and was having a great conversation with his employees. To me, this is the mark of a good business and, more importantly, a center of the community. Can't wait to check it out once this...
