Absolutely atrocious! The location in downtown A2 was already mediocre to begin with but we were craving dosas and Michigan suffers from a brutal dearth of non-American cuisines. Like there are ZERO good authentic Indian, Malaysian or Thai, restaurants and such. There are however a ton of fake ones which one has to make do with. So anyway we were craving dosas and thought alright lets just go back to Madras Masala cuz its the best of the worst. But little did we realize that they've gone from bad to worse. At this new location they are a completely self serve model. No big deal. But the problem is that their order service is downright garbage. We ordered 5 different things and they had a small child running the register who was (one) barely audible and (two) completely clueless about anything on the menu. So asking her any questions about the items was quickly turning into a headache. And each time to explain their arrogant owner stepped in trying to over-explain in his condescending tone which we didn't appreciate.
Anyway we placed the order and they literally brought our order out on the counter one dish at a time with a good 7-10 minute wait between each dish. So imagine ....5 things took almost ~30 minutes to come out. It was awful. And then the kicker was that the food was so gd oily that it didn't even feel right going down. The potatoes were bland, the chutney was bland, the sambhar was oily and overtly spicy and the rava and plain dosa were swimming in oil. What a terrible way to throw almost $100 down the drain. We will never come back here again and recommend you think twice before going to this stupid, badly run place with barely sub-par "south Indian food". For seemingly who are south Indians running this place, they should be ashamed of what a bad food they...
Read moreWe recently had the pleasure of hosting a buffet lunch for a group of about 20 people at Madras Masala, and the entire experience was absolutely fantastic from start to finish.
The food was outstanding—every single dish was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. It’s rare to attend a buffet where every item on the menu feels equally well-executed, but Madras Masala truly delivered. From the appetizers to the desserts, everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented.
The setup was elegant and well-organized, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made our get-together feel really special. We also appreciated how accommodating the staff were with our decorations—they allowed us to bring in our own items to personalize the space, which made the event feel even more festive and unique.
Special shoutout to Priscilla, who was an absolute joy to coordinate with. She was incredibly helpful, kind, and responsive throughout the entire planning process. Her attention to detail and warm demeanor made everything run smoothly and stress-free.
Overall, this was the perfect setting for our gathering, and we couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. Huge thanks to the Madras Masala team for going above and beyond to make our event memorable. Highly recommend for anyone looking to host a group event or simply enjoy an excellent...
Read moreI went to this restaurant many times in last one year- overall decent experience. For the lunch buffet on the weekends, they have many different variations of food and flavor. But, my last experience for a menu dinner was horrible. There was only one person for taking the order. He kept me waiting for long time, even the place was not busy at 9:00. I went there from the middle of my study on a Saturday night. And I had a feeling that the well- dressed customers especially European descendant folks were getting much more attention and time by the staffs. For taking my order, the guy was in super hurry. He seemed annoyed and was rude when I asked one/ two question about the menu (eg: me: "does this come with a nan?" The guy in an annoyed tone: "where does it say it comes with a nan?"). I ordered for a Moghlai Chicken and I was never asked what spice level I wanted for my food. Finally the food I got was extremely spicy. So, I stopped eating in the middle, paid my bills and decided never to go there again. For you who are curious, I was born and spent the first 24 years of my life in Indian subcontinents. The restaurant does not deserve a severe critic for one of their staffs and one of the bad dishes on a random day. So, I am still giving them a three star for my previous...
