If you are ever in the Ann Arbor area and don't eat at The Lunch Room ... Well, I can only assume it's because you're going to fall too much in love and then be sad because it's not closer to you!!!
If I could give this place 10000 stars I would!
BUT NO REALLY is it possible to love somewhere more? If I lived in the area I can see myself stopping by so often, the ambience of the entire space is too good. So much natural light, the friendliest service, a fantastically large menu, the best coffee, rotating pastry specials .. and I was only here for breakfast!
Here's everything we tried:
๐ Josh's Bagel Sandwich - sooooo tasty and I ordered a plain bagel to go because it was one of the best I've had in my entire life (NYC comparable!) and I regret not getting six!
๐ Avocado Toast - we ordered this both times we went as a starter to share and it was ๐ค๐ป I don't know if I'll find an avocado toast I like more. The fresh crunchy bread, perfect avocado, red onions (my fave!)
๐ Jake ordered the breakfast platter and it was so tasty. A perfect mix of everything! The tofu scramble was soooo good!
๐ S'mores scone..... Was..... So..... Good. And not included here was, without a doubt, the best brownie we have both ever had.
๐ The COLD BREW!!!! THE COLD BREEEEEEEWWWW
๐ The Billie Jean biscuit was one of the most flavorful and unique items I've ever eaten. The biscuit itself was what I dream of and the maple Dijon sauce set this...
ย ย ย Read moreThis restaurant is attached to an apartment building. I was there to visit a friend and went in their entrance because I could not find the lobby entrance. It's about 10 steps from their entrance to exit into the building. Before I could open the exit, I was approached by a female worker who asked where I was going. I said I was lost and tried to move on as she told me to use the lobby entrance. After a time with my friend I left to get something from my car, which I had parked near their entrance as I didn't know where I should've gone. I walked through the tiny place to go out, then in one more time. It was then I was approached by the same female worker who very sternly told me not to use their restaurant as a walk through. I can certainly understand that she had a valid point, but knowing that I was new there and only causing a mild inconvenience, I felt she could've exercised a lot more tact. This restaurant might be friendly to its patrons, but as a guest of the adjacent apartments I was made to feel quite unwelcome. Perhaps you should treat potential customers as well as paying customers? You won't be getting my money, so you'll have to show the courtesy to someone else, and for your sake I...
ย ย ย Read morePretty bummed to have to write this review. Lunchroom has switched to an entirely QR-based menu system. Basically you donโt have any kind of server checking on you or anything.
This also means that they expect you to pay the tip before youโve gotten any kind of customer service, which is a little bizarre.
We waited a full 35 minutes before contacting staff to check on the food. Nobody came by beforehand to check on drinks or asked us if we needed anything for a full 35 minutes. When I when I did talk to someone they were apologetic. And our food came about 10 minutes after that.
We were offered no compensation, or any kind of excuse for this horrible service.
My wife and I are both vegetarianโs and have been since we were teenagers. It is a real bummer but the only real vegan restaurant in town has gone to the system where you get very little in the way of...
