Bakery & Bites — Restaurant in Antioch

I visited Anisha's Niche Bakery & Bites in Pittsburgh, CA with my husband, and overall we had a pretty good experience.

We ordered the fried Basa fish and fried shrimp with Cajun dry rub seasoning – both were flavorful and cooked well. We rated them 8.5/10. The drinks were also a hit: the mango-pineapple Kool-Aid was a refreshing 9/10, and the classic red Kool-Aid was also a solid 9/10.

For our main meal, we both ordered the smothered turkey chops with rice. The chops themselves were tender and tasty (8.5/10), but the real star was the gravy – hands down a 10/10.

For the sides, we tried:

Mac & Cheese: 5/10

Greens & Cabbage: 3/10

Garlic Mashed Potatoes: 6/10

Yams: 3/10

We also grabbed some sweets to go:

Biscoff Pudding: 2/10

Peanut Butter & Jelly Cookie: 2/10

I been wanting to try their smothered turkey chops for months now finally got the courage to stop in and it was the BIGGEST mistake!!! The guy at the front had a nasty attitude! The turkey chops WASNT smothered they was only fried and while fried to perfection they were not seasoned and dry as the desert 🥵 the rice and gravy was basically just steamed rice! Super stingy with the gravy!! Gravy tasted like the store bought packets of powdered gravy 😩 the greens mixed with cabbage had no seasoning just greens and I have never in my life encountered WATERY yams 😔 like it was watery. The cornbread muffin was good but was fun sized! Way too expensive and absolutely no quality i’m so disappointed, I wanted to support this business so bad after seeing an instagram post of a smothered turkey chop meal and this was absolutely not it!!!!...

The service was friendly and the cupcakes look amazing. The cupcakes are on the denser side and the frosting is a thicker sugar frosting vs a whipped cream frosting. I am more used to a lighter and airy type of cupcake. It wasn't for me but maybe someone else would enjoy these beautiful cupcakes. I also bought the brownie and they were delicious. I will give the bakery another try in the future.

Update: changed review from a 3 star to 4 star. Tried the oreo cupcake and it is delicious!!! The banana pudding, oreo cupcake, lemonade and brownies were fantastic. The cupcakes with the buttercream is still too sweet for me, but I'll be back for the items I do like.
