TLDR: This is a very nice, new hotel with a few kinks left to work out.
The Good
The hotel is very nice and new. The rooms were very clean. The furniture and fixtures are all modern and most are thoughtfully designed. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful. There is a Starbucks right in the parking lot if that's your jam. The hotel doesn't charge extra for parking. There is a very nice, large gym with towels and a water bottle fill station. Each floor has a functional ice machine. Each room includes a mini fridge and microwave.
The Bad
The water is unreasonably soft. It's a challenge to rinse soap off. The bathroom door has spring loaded hinges and won't stay open without something heavy to prop it open, which is often necessary due to the mediocre bathroom ventilation. The TV in my room turned on at 4 AM by itself one night and woke me up. My coworker in a different room reported the same problem. The bathroom mirror is designed for people under 5'-8". At 6'-3", I can't see anything above my chin without awkwardly bending over or squatting. There is a bar right around knee level in front of the bathroom sink that my average-height coworkers reported bumping into constantly. There is no breakfast buffet and the hotel restaurant is slow and expensive. I would much prefer a simple free breakfast buffet like you might see at a Holiday Inn or Quality Inn to a slow, expensive restaurant. The effectiveness of the mini fridge in my room was questionable. I had a half gallon of milk go bad after a day in the fridge, but my yogurt kept for four days with no problem. I booked a 2 queen bed suite for 3 nights I arrived to check in front person tells me they don’t have my suite available I said what do you mean I have a reservation number she then proceed to apologize I said if my reservation wasn’t available why didn’t no one call me to let me know that way I could of rearrange my stay elsewhere again more apologies front person then offered me a king bed suite at the same time reassuring me a 2 queen bed suite would be available for me the next day I said fine no problem I can manage for one night . Next day I went out to town before leaving I went to the front desk to let them know I would be out a couple hours my belongings were still in the room per front person again assured me the 2 queen bed suite would be ready shortly I said I cant stick around but will be back on a few hours , a few hours went by the housekeeper manager calls me telling me they cannot accommodate me with a suite because they couldn’t fix a shower leak (this is funny your a hotel and can’t fix a leak call a freakin plumber )but will offer me a regular room I explained to her that at this point I felt duped by them I was traveling with my special needs son and there was a reason i booked a suite I need the space , refrigerator and walk in shower again nothing but apologies at this point I was too tired and stressed to get all my belongings and move to another hotel . Upon check-in, I was assisted by a young woman — a heavyset African-American associate — who provided phenomenal service. She was professional, courteous, and set a positive tone for the start of my stay. I want to commend her for her outstanding customer service. Unfortunately, the following morning, my experience took a drastic turn for the worse. I was assisted by a person who identified as a manager, and the level of professionalism was unacceptable. Their communication was unclear, their demeanor was rude, and I felt disrespected as a guest. This treatment was extremely disappointing, especially as a Marriott member with status. Regardless of whether a stay is booked with a discount or paid in full, every guest deserves the same level of respect and quality service that Marriott is known for. This incident has left a very negative impression of this location and has made me reconsider future stays with this property. I hope this matter is addressed promptly and appropriately.
