Bummer to have to change my tune from my last positive review. The last time I went, I was spoiling my nephews and my mom so I was spending nearly $30 on food, including my mom’s favorite of the rice bowl. I know it’s unrealistic to expect them to stage rice when it’s not a popular menu item, so I was anticipating the moment the women asked me to please park in front so they could bring out my order once the food was ready. I agreed, asked if the bag could please include a sweet and sour for the egg roll and then pulled up to the front doors and parked. I had my dog with me (leashed to the back seat so he couldn’t reach my driver window, but enough to hop around and be curious). We’re sitting there for a long while. I know it takes 15 minutes or so to prepare the rice (at least with the older machines from 2014) so I didn’t mind the waiting. My dog was getting really anxious though and started barking so I thought I’d better just go inside to wait. I went inside and this woman in a manager shirt kept looking at me with confusion as I stood there holding a long receipt in my hand simply watching the process of the kitchen. I used to work at a Jack in the Box 7 years ago, so I was sincerely prepared to wait and just watching with curiosity of their systems... so she finally approaches me and says “what you need?” I told her I was waiting for my order which seemed to confuse her. Due to the language barrier between Spanish and English, I thought it may be best to show her my receipt. She looks at it with big eyes, takes it from me, and begins to drop items in the fryer... Then the girl from the window walks up, takes a second to recognize me with my mask and without my dog, but kinda smiles and asks what I’m still doing there (it’s been like 25-30 minutes now). I explained I came inside cuz my dog was getting anxious but I was still waiting for my order. She then turns to the cook who says that she already completed that order on her screens. She then turns to the manager frantically shouting at the cook and shaking the baskets in the fryer who finally states to the girl, “I gave that order to the wrong car”... ... Yeah. She gave my order to the wrong car, didn’t say anything to me. Didn’t ask if I was OK to wait another 15 minutes. Back in my day, we’d offer like a cheese cake or a chocolate cake as a show of apology in addition to the recreation of the order— which would have been awesome for my nephews... but instead, when she was frantically throwing things in the fryer, she accidentally threw the whole 3 count staged egg roll bag into the fryer and said that THAT was going to make it “all better”. My mom doesn’t even like the egg rolls, I just had seen the price is cheaper to make it a combo since my mom wanted a drink.
But I was really done standing there and the language barrier was really not something she was trying to work through, she was just like “more egg rolls. All better.” And hands me the bag. I tried to ask if the sauces were in the bag already and she just shoved the window girl in front of me. Not because there were other orders, but I imagine due to the language barrier. I wasn’t rude or anything. I just can’t speak Spanish and she can’t speak very good English and I guess she didn’t want to deal with me.
All around, not a very respectful manner for anyone to deal with a mistake on their end. Especially a surprise coming from someone who is a manager. And then to top all of this unfortunate mess off, she threw away my receipt so I couldn’t even submit this review to their owners to maybe encourage some actual positive change on how they operate.
Overall a bummer. Like I said, my first experience, I wrote a nice review. The next experience was mediocre but I didn’t adjust my review. Everybody has off days. But then this? Simply unacceptable from what I know to be the standards of...
Read moreIt was kind of comical really. Spanish people have taken over running the Jack - in- the - box in Apache Junction. The little old lady came to the counter.I told her I wanted the steak burger that they were advertising on T. V. She said #1. When I paid ,she gave me a dime back. I gave it back to her and said , No, no. A nickel. She looked puzzled so I held up hand and wiggled my fingers. I said,5. She gave me a nickel. When he burger came it wasn't the one advertised on T.V. It was delicious. So I ate it. Why make a fuss and embarrass her. When I left I said it was delicious. But next time I go there I'm going to order a #2. It's awesome !!! If you haven't had one , you should try it. I HATE McDonald's !!!!!!! Who knows what your getting in your burgers. It's too noisy. I have hearing aids so it magnifies the noise. It's crowded, too. The meat ,if you'd call it that, is tasteless and smaller than the tool. The breakfast sandwiches are just as bad. Give me that sweet little old lady and the peace and quiet of Jack - in -the - box any day. And .....know that I am getting real meat and fresh veggies in my sandwich every time. The people please there are so congenial. I hope I'm doing as well as that sweet little old lady when I get to...
Read moreI don’t normally eat at fast foods. But a coupon enticed me to try their $5 Jumbo Jack Combo. I ordered at the speaker box and pulled forward 1 car in front of me and he pulled out as I moved forward. A mature (older lady told me the price if $11 and something. I had told her I had the $5 coupon and repeated as such and she immediately said yes and turned to the register and gave me a new price of 5. And something. Great. She asked if I wanted ketchup and I said no. So she turned around and left for maybe 2 minutes and told me it would be just a few minutes on my order they were waiting on fries I told her I don’t normally eat at jack-in-the-box and she said I would like it and everything was full size not the smaller one. She left and came back with my food and drink and said thank you and smiled I told her thank you for the smile. What a great experience and the food was much better than I had anticipated. It wrapped neatly and carefully packaged with extra napkin! I couldn’t have had a better experience. And the price was amazing. I couldn’t eat all of the food. And the lady who served me needs a raise. Most faces in a window look like they want to be somewhere else. I’m smiling writing this. I don’t normally do this either. Go to Jack-in-the-box soon. Betty...
