Anyone who has been to Japan can attest to the fact that once you get used to the food there it can be very hard to find something that compares here in the states. Momo Bowl definitely gets a lot right.
The food here is both the reason Momo gets 5 stars from me, and the reason it almost only got 4. The flavors themself are all there, something beyond hard to find in arizona. It really tastes like the food in Japan and the inclusion of Japanese fast food staples like Katsudon, okonomiyaki and Curry Katsu, makes Momo one of the only places I've found to satisfy those cravings. 99% of the time "Japanese" food is either sushi or ramen; both are great but Japan's cuisine is so much more than just those two. That being said, While the flavors of everything we had were great and accurate, the quality left a bit to be desired. Nothing was bad at all, but I'd love to see the same high standards we became accustomed to in Japan. With that in mind, the quality was still plenty good enough for the price. I'm just one of those people that would prefer to pay more and wait a bit longer for an even better product.
People like to describe this place as a hidden gem and that description hits the nail on the head. I've been looking for a good Japanese restaurant in the valley for ages now and I never even thought to look in AJ let alone in the corner of a random fairly crummy strip mall. Once you get inside though you are immediately greeted but the customary greeting you hear in shops all over Japan and have the pleasure of meeting with one of the nicest restaurant employees I have ever met. Seriously the service here alone is awesome. I almost gave this place 4 stars because of the aforementioned food quality concern but because of the service, and the simple fact they are doing something almost no one else in the valley is doing, Momo...

I'm glad I kept giving this place a try. The food is amazing and since the kid quit of got fired that I had issues with it's been great. Same 3 guys always serve me. I get the same exact thing every time. And I don't have to order. Karaage Don over noodles. I eat it 2 3 times a week!!!!!
Sat patiently waiting for over 30 min. First spot came avaliable and I took it. Dude walks up to me rude as can be saying what are you doing. He said there were a bunch of people waiting for a table and I was there before all of them. I don't even know why I keep comming back. Stay clear.
Update. The asian dude is the confused one. A lady asked for chili paste amd he questioned why for what. Smh. He has horrible customer service and is confused every time I'm here. Lol
Been here 6 times. Seems like they have some kind of confusion weird how small it is and there is 3 servers. Some of the food is a solid 10 but don't get aby sushi. It's just not worth it. They are less then half the size of any place I've ever been. It wasn't busy and I had to ask to put in an order after they helped 3 people that walked in put in an order. Also after i.put in an order I was asked by another server if I was ready to put in an order hahahaha. Deff confusion with the servers. I'll be back but they deff need to work on communication and make their sushi rolls at least normal size. Like who makes tiny rolls lol. The rolls look bug in pics but I'm telling you they are the size...
Read moreThis is a nice unassuming place to get some traditional Japanese food (i.e. donburi, yakisoba, udon, ramen, curry). I was really wanting a good katsudon as my favorite place to indulge in had closed a couple years ago. This place came up on a Google search and the reviews were promising. The place is small and not at all flashy. It had the hint of an unpleasant aroma but it stopped being noticeable a few minutes in (whether that's good or bad). Not many seats and we had to wait 30 minutes-ish to sit and order. We didn't mind since we planned a wait. The service was very nice but not very attentive. We didn't get a refill on water or soda the whole time. But the servers were few and they were keeping busy getting food out so we took no offense. We ordered vegetable tempura, takoyaki, katsudon and karrage don. Everything was delicious. Loved the takoyaki. The katsudon was a bit smaller and a little pricier than my previous go to but it still hit the spot. While the karrage don was not my sort of thing my wife enjoyed it. The meal wasn't life changing but it was a great way to get some not so easy to find traditional Japanese dishes. Prices were on par with other places. The quality was good and the atmosphere was neutral. I wouldn't hesitate to return if I was in the mood for Japanese food and I would love to...
