The Mocha Room — Restaurant in Apex

The first thing we noticed when we got there was an empty parking lot. When we walked in there was a musty unclean smell. Usually, when you walk into a coffee shop you smell coffee!! But nope, not here. We should have walked out at that point, but we thought, “we are already here, let’s try it” The young employee behind the counter did not seem like he had much knowledge of what he was doing.(which showed lack of training and poor management on the businesses behalf) AND he was the only one there. I ordered dirty pumpkin mocha “HOT!” With half and half. As per the sign on the counter, It could be made hot, cold,or iced. Well it came out COLD! When I notified the employee his response was “This is as hot as I can make it” I asked if he added half and half and he let me know he forgot. I let him know the drink was awful and asked for a refund which he did. What a huge disappointment!! My husband ordered a mocha frappe which came out mediocre at most. McDonald’s has better frappes!! Again, huge disappointment!! We should have read the reviews before going! Not sure how they have 4.6 stars. Those who left the 1 and 2 star reviews are spot on. What I found most disappointing in the reviews were the responses from the business. They seemed defensive and made no real effort to remedy the issues the customers had. Just excuses. So please, if you’re only going to make excuses when replying to my review don’t bother replying. In response to your response of my review, WOW! So not only do you have an employee That has no idea what he is doing. He is also a liar. I specifically ordered a hot drink. As per the sign on your counter The dirty pumpkin could be made hot cold or iced. The only thing I change my mind about was paying for the disgusting drink your employee made. When my husband received his drink, he tried it and said it was “OK” meaning it was drinkable. If you read my review carefully, you would’ve seen that I stated we thought his drink was no more than mediocre and the McDonald’s makes a better frappe. As far as the cinnamon bun goes, yes, we took one home, and my husband said it was good, but that had nothing to do with your establishment as everything there is purchased and or made somewhere else. It’s a shame that you get so defensive about these reviews and choose to ignore the fact That changes need to be made. I try to support small businesses, But unfortunately, yours will no longer be one that I will support. Good luck staying...
