First, I have lived in the area for 27 years and never stepped foot in this spot I now consider Appleton's biggest secret. I have been missing out! We walked in on a Wednesday evening and were seated right away. The gentleman working behind the bar was also our server. In fact, I never saw another staff member but we never felt we were not receiving the attention one expects in a restaurant. The dining area is small. The bar is adequate for perhaps a dozen people?? And the menu selection was good. I ordered the Chicken Bul Go-Gi Bento Box Dinner. I enjoyed everything immensely except perhaps the chicken. The flavor was fine but the chicken was too dry. I did not reduce my rating one star as I typically do if everything is not excellent because everything else WAS fantastic. I'm not sure what I will order when I go back but I will go back. Our party of four spent about $100 mostly due to the amount of sushi we ordered.
Update: A return visit July 3 does not change much from above yet it confirms the service is still excellent. We ordered sushi and while I am not true connoisseur, as I have only recently started eating sushi as I am not a fan of many types of fish, the sushi seemed pretty good. The rolls did have a tendency to stick to the serving plate and made it a bit difficult to remove using chop sticks but they still tasted...
Read moreGreat food and Great staff! We consistently get take out and eat in - both are great options. The staff are friendly and fun to be around. Sitting at the bar allows for more interaction. #1 item, for me, is the Spicy Tuna Tartar - it is delicious and difficult to not order every time. The house salad dressing is outstanding as well. The nigiri and sashimi is a good size for the price, but stick to the tried and true variations. The Maki rolls go from basic to complex, but do not stay off into crazy variations. The unique drinks on the menu are well worth trying from the bar - and the house sake is just right. Take-out wait time is usually reasonable usually between 20 minutes to 45 minutes depending on how busy they are at the time. Other reviewers complain about the building and bathrooms - The place doesn't appear to have been originally built to be a restaurant and must have been adjusted to work as one, hence the odd bathroom situations (this is an assumption on my part). Overall, I have never had a bad experience with Far East and will continue to patronize their...
Read moreFar East Korean & Japanese Cuisine exceeded our expectations in every way. The parking lot adjacent to the building provided ample space, making it convenient for us to access the restaurant. As soon as we stepped inside, we were warmly welcomed by Cody or Ted, both of whom served as excellent hosts throughout our visit. The atmosphere of the restaurant was perfect for a peaceful and enjoyable dining experience. The food itself was a true highlight, with every dish prepared to perfection. We highly recommend trying the Chicken and Tenderloin Bulgogi Appetizers, Tuna Tar Tar, Grilled Salmon, Scorpion Roll, Sake (Salmon), and the delightful Ginger Sauce. It's difficult to find anything we didn't enjoy during our meal. Far East Korean & Japanese Cuisine has undoubtedly secured its place at the top of our go-to list for...
