Gypsy’s 812 Lounge (formerly Union Jack) — Restaurant in Appleton

Giving 3 stars because my interaction was with only one bartender, I'll give the rest of the establishment the benefit of the doubt.

I initially asked for an energy drink and was told he wasn't allowed to sell just a Monster and that it had to be mixed with something (some comment about how they weren't licensed to sell it in the can) so I ordered a soda. He gave me the soda with some derision and told me it wasn't a kids restaurant. I was there visiting some old friends so we were outside in the patio area having conversation and I milked my soda for 2 hours because I didn't feel the need to deal with the bartender again. I eventually went back to the bar and asked for a water for which I was ignored a good 5 minutes while he attended to other orders (taken after mine of course) he came up to me again and asked for my order and I told him I had asked for a water nd his exact response was "I know that's why i didn't serve you" I told him there was no need to be rude and u was finally given a cup of water. I stayed at the bar as this was where a friend was so I began talking to him for awhile. Eventually the bartender came up to me and explained he didn't have time for non paying customers as to which i explained to him i was completely willing to pay for my soda and my water, which i did and even gave him a tip both times. "Union Jack's in Appleton definitely deserves a fresh five-star shout-out! I actually first visited this place 25 years ago for my 21st birthday, and back then it was a bit on the sketchy side. Fast forward to now, and the transformation is just amazing. They've totally redone the place, and it has a perfect mix of old-school charm with a clean, welcoming vibe. The atmosphere is lively without being overwhelming, and it feels like somewhere you can truly relax. Even the bathrooms have been relocated and upgraded — a small detail, but it shows how much they’ve invested in improving the whole experience. Great eclectic bar. It has that old school feel with tin ceilings and all but has a modern crowd. Its a long bar that even has live music. Great in house PA system. Perfect size and it sounds great. The owner runs sound and knows how very well. Bartenders are very nice and quick. Killer location with a bumpy parking lot. But it fits all the cars to fill the bar.
