Simple Simon Bakery — Restaurant in Appleton

We used Simple Simon a year ago for our wedding cake. We froze the top to save for our one year anniversary. I was so upset with the cake the first time, this time was no better. My experience from a year ago: My husband and I took in a photo of a cake that we had found online. It was totally out of the ordinary. The lady we spoke with told us that she would have to order a special stencil and she'd have to practice in order to get it right. She assured us that there would be no problem with this. We had asked if we needed a fondant instead of regular frosting due to the design. She said that we would not need the special fondant. I put all of my trust in this lady (not to mention $500). Our wedding day came. Everything was going great until I saw the cake. It was an embarrassment. I had talked this cake up to everyone because it was going to be so awesome. Awesome it was not. It was the complete opposite. So the cake tasted great, but looked horrible. I wrote a review later on on their facebook page describing all of this. To make it short, the response I got was that it was my fault for not getting the fondant and that she told me the cake would look nothing like the picture and pretty much I was a liar. My daughter ordered her wedding cake from here. Her wedding was planned last minute and they decided to go with Simple Simon bakery and see if they would be able to make a small cake for them. Right from the start of their initial appointment the lady who met with them was not friendly. She told them their colors would not work. They wanted dark blue and lavender flowers. The lady then proceeded to tell them they had to change the time of their ceremony rather than trying to work with them. We were able to arrange for my son to pick up the cake the day on the wedding. My daughter didn’t see the cake until after the ceremony. The cake was decorated with dark blue and light blue flowers. No lavenders flowers as my daughter requested. She was so disappointed as this was the main color for her wedding. Then when it came time to eat the cake it didn’t even taste fresh. One layer was marble and you couldn’t even see the chocolate swirls they were so faint. The cake was dry and crumbly. My daughter was so disappointed she could have cried. They were on a tight budget and $140 for small 2 tier cake was a lot for them. The cake was definitely not $140 quality. Oh my goodness!!!! I contacted Dawn at Simple Simon and through email we contracted to have them do a wedding cake for my son’s wedding. I am disabled and cannot travel from my home to the bakery so I never actually went to the store. I knew what flavors I wanted for my new daughter in law and I had a rough idea of the cake I wanted made. My husband is a talented artist so I told him what I wanted and he sketched the cake for me. Dawn had me send her the flowers to be used because we needed a particular type of orchid.

When the cake was delivered to our venue, I about cried!! It was so perfect!!! Every flower in its place, the custom cake topper fit so perfectly. And I was in awe at how beautiful and perfect this cake truly was.

My daughter in law had no idea what her cake might look like. We kept it a secret the entire time. She cried because it was exactly what she had hoped for and more. The cake was so moist and delicious. All of the guests loved it. Everyone wanted to know where we got it from.

I never have met the folks at Simple Simon but if I ever need another cake for any reason.....I will not hesitate to call or email them. Thank you to everyone involved on this order. It is exactly what...
