China Chef — Restaurant in Arizona

Lost our business, Terrible Customer Service! We have been patrons of this establishment for years and always ordered plain fried rice, awhile back they did add an additional charge for this option. Today's visit ensured that we will never do business with this restaurant again. Upon ordering I was told the combo dinners could not have plain fried rice. I asked when that happened as they had always done it before and I knew that they charged extra for it. The girl taking the order was quite snooty by saying "well I've never taken your order before and we can't do that", I asked again since when and she said she would have to ask the manager. After asking someone, I can hear her end of the conversation not the person responding, she tells me that to get plain fried rice I would need to order all items individually that I can not order the combo dinners, which was at an even higher cost then their previous substitution charge. I agreed to order the items in the way she advised and even had her confirm after she gave me the total and my order number that the order included plain fried rice. I pick up my order (and tipped) to get home and find that they gave us regular fried rice. I called the restaurant immediately to let them know the order was wrong. The girl on the phone (same one that took the order) initally says she doesn't know what I'm talking about then proceeded to get an attitude and start lying saying she told me the rice would have all the normal items and that she specifically listed what is in the fried rice (she never did this) and that I was told the rice would not be plain. I let her know she did not tell me that and asked her why if the rice was going to come exactly the same as if I ordered the combo dinner did she need to speak to a manager and then tell me I needed to order the items separately to get what I was requesting. Explaining that it wouldn't make any sense to order in a more expensive way if I was still not going to get the food I wanted. She asked me what I wanted her to do. At this point I'm extreamly irritated having to deal with someone that is being combative and argumentative in regards to the order being incorrect and i asked for a refund, mind you I did not say I wanted the whole order refunded I would've been fine with just a refund on the rice. The girl on the phone said she would need to speak to the manager, I could her here telling someone that she specifically told all the ingredients in fried rice and that I'm now upset that it came the way she said, she gets back on the phone with me and tells me that they will only give a refund if I bring the rice back to them. I let the girl know I do not live close which is why I ordered over the phone to pick the food up when I was passing by (mind you this restaurant is not on my normal commute route) and coming back to their location tonight would not be feasible. I'm then told I can bring it back another day and once I do they will give the refund. So their solution was I should have to carry stinky Chinese food around in my car when it's over 90 degrees the full day to be able to go that route again after work to get a refund for their error? A business that either blatantly lied about their menu options to upsell or won't even offer any apology for filing an order incorrectly and allows staff to be disrespectful to paying customers that have an issue with the service received is one that really needs to reconsider their customer service policy or establish one. The $8+ they charged for that fried rice (which will be returned) was apparently worth a lot more than keeping a customer that had giving regular business for over 9 years. If you want to support local small businesses that operate on honest and moral practices than this is one establishment to scratch off the list. *Update full order being returned, thankfully told the husband not to eat it. Physically ill from eating 3 pieces of spare ribs. Food used to be good, now their ability to cook food properly apparently matches the customer service. All...

This evening ( March 7,2013) I placed an order for pick up and when I got there the lady in front of had just finished ordering, I noticed the older Asian man (the cook) was cleaning off the cutting table on the north side of the work station with a grayish rage that I presumed was once white. The cook then went on to go into the fridge and got some egg rolls and place them in the fryer, also went on to get some veggies and meat and started to cook them. All this went on without washing his hands from using the dirty rage.

I was on my way out with my order when I realized that I should say something. Which I did, and returned my order and received a full refund and stated that I will never eat here ever again. Also that what the cook had done was a BIG HEALTH ISSUE and she seemed not to care a bit about what I had to say. I have eaten at this restaurant over a dozen times before and never had this issue but when I see so many cross contaminations happening at once I felt obligated to say something, for the simple fact that I would want someone to do the same for my family. The lady in front of me and the couple behind me all walked out and were discussed with what was happening.

So please beware of what the restaurant does while cooking your food. I would not recommend eating at this Chinese...

I wish I could give this place 100 STARS!!! This place is literally the best Chinese food I’ve ever had and I’m from NY and literally grew up on the stuff with a great place on just about every corner. Usually we were rarely disappointed. But holy cow this food rocks! The chicken and broccoli is full of flavor and the smell as soon as you open the box is amazing!! The chicken is also perfectly cut up and not too big or thick and not too thin it’s the perfect chicken for this meal!! Everything is cooked to perfection, hot and the sauce is out of this world! You also get actual pork fried rice with the combo that tastes delicious unlike that HORRIBLE place, Bobo China on Hunt Hwy not too far from here. They gave me just “browned” white rice not pork fried rice and everything was horrible in so many ways. They should be out of business. DO NOT GO THERE!!!!

I can’t imagine why this place doesn’t have 5 STARS?! It’s literally flawless and perfect every time. If your palate knows real, good Chinese food and what it should really taste like and you are pretty particular and you want to be happy, satisfied and have your taste buds dancing with excitement, go here!!!!!!! You will NOT...
