Good food in this loud sports bar. Great burgers and tacos and other sandwiches I have tried. Fish is good too. Clean, several different TVs with a few different games and one showing ChiveTV channel for those not interested in games. Big full bar and lots of tables. Tends to be pretty busy with wait not uncommon during typical meal hours of lunch or dinner.
The hamburgers are excellent too! Beef is fresh and a big 1/2 pound burger that seems like maybe 3/4 pounder...I am eating my veggy sude and 1/2 the burger and going away full with the other 1,/2 a burger makes for another meal with something like tortilla chips or similar at home the next day, or later with some steamed veggies quickly fixed and Zineat a lot of food cold, just got in the habit during a period in my life that required I eat my food slower. Some things I warm, but unless the flavor or texture is affected I will often opt for the sandwich cold with something warm or room temperature.
The steak was the only disappointment I have had there. The meat was a nice juicy piece cooked Medium it just was not seasoned enough it was a disappointing experience. Probably a function of the cook not doing steaks very often and forgetting to make the seasoning or simply not salting the beef and letting it rest and come to room temp before cooking or just not seasoning it at all, once it it is cooked, it is too late to season a steak and have any seasoning go into the meat once it is cooked, everything on top later is just to add flavor in your mouth, it doesn't mix much with the meats juices as it doesn't have time or any heat and other processes to combine. A heavy dash of garlic salt as it cooked would have been fine or if the steak was salted with a coarse salt right before cooking, but it was a shame a good piece of meat was ruined due to lack of seasoning. Strangely enough, never had a burger that was not seasoned, so I was surprised and disappointed. Should have made them redo it but tried the steak the 2nd or third visit to Trident IV and didn't feel like causing any pushback towards them.
Now the redskins are delicious, loaded with bacon when I get them at night along with tacos or a burger or something else. Burgers are pricey but oh so deliciously decadent. The BBQ burger is my favorite I think but only tried 2 different ones or maybe 3 before deciding on my flavorite. I have gotten just the regular burger or cheeseburger and added BBQ to it and it was very satisfying...
They don't skimp on the bacon for the bacon bits and it is a very flavorful bacon and thick cut. (Kirkland seasoned bacon forget what they call it is incredible stuff...doubt this is Kirkland as Costco has a policy for business customers...)
Otherwise, great stuff the redskins, fried pickles are tasty some time with a good ranch dressing and hot and batter has some crunch.
Was getting a side order of Trident Potatoes but then something changed several months ago and I switched up a side to order with something else or in addition to what an item came with for different flavor and tastes. I don't mind paying for good food, as I enjoy the flavors of my food as too many things that aren't great I often just don't order that and buy something else. Or that side could be reheated and go nicely with something I cook at home the next day... Often I don't eat a lot, so I like flavor in the food I do eat. Trident...
Read moreI am in town visiting family and have been trying different places to eat while the locals work, ha. Walked in to watch the celtics game and get some grub. There were more than enough TVs in all areas of the bar and restaurant to have a good view of any active game from any table or bar top.
As a self-proclaimed hot sauce and wing lover, I am always hesitant to order wings from unknown places. I am stupid picky and should feel bad... But in all seriousness, the wings here were perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. Exactly what I hope to get at any pub that does wings right. Super moist meat paired with that great crispy crunch of skin on the outside served fresh and hot.
In addition to an extreme infatuation with all things hot, my second loves are curries and Thai food. I ordered the Sautéed Alaskan Cod for my dinner, and it was listed as being served with a coconut curry, which intrigued me. I am extremely happy I ordered it. The cod was cooked very well and was very fresh, the "forbidden rice" which seemed to be a type of purple quinoa or similar too, was as very good, but best of all, was the flavor of the coconut curry. Instantly, my tastebuds went from "dive bar" to a hole in the wall restaurant kicking out some killer Thai Food. Very, very good. I would come here just to order this entree. Well done to the head chef, many props.
Thia establishment was very clean and well run. The staff was friendly and efficiently worked each table. The food came out timely even during the mid dinner crunch I was a part of. Simply a great pub style bar pumping out some stellar food. The kitchen can be seen through a glass partition, which is always a plus as it shows the kitchen has nothing to hide from the customers, and the bathrooms are very clean. Reenfisise on being a clean and well run establishment. Minor, but good note, the music volume was set perfectly to allow discussions to be heard across the table and not to interrupt the games on T.V., but still could be...
Read moreWe stopped in on a Sunday evening and got a seat right away. Having previously been to the original Trident we knew what to expect food and drink wise. We are not under any sort of illusion that this is an upscale eatery or a place to grab a quiet bite...Its a sports bar. It is worth noting that Trident locations as a rule have better food than any other pub in Tucson. This visit we decided to order a couple Burgers and watch some sports. The place was lively and the waitress took our order right away. When our food arrived the burgers were not cooked correctly they were well done...We pointed out the mistake and our server apologized profusely and got our orders redone. Shortly after a manager stopped at our table to apologize which was appreciated. When our new orders came out one was missing it’s Fries, the server (a different young lady) promised they were on the way...guess what? They never arrived...failure number two. We finished what we had and decided it just wasn’t our day at Trident Grill. We then were approached by our original server that hadn’t checked on us since placing the replacement order. We told her about the second mistake and she was clearly miffed and apologized again. At this point we were done and just wanted to go home. It’s what they did next that will have us return again and again. The manager on duty promptly appeared and apologized. He didn’t make excuses he just politely asked for a second chance and comped our meals. We were still bummed having such a bumpy experience but they did the right thing and didn’t dodge the issue. I think that is all anyone can ever ask for because life isn’t perfect and sometimes you get to experience a less than ideal situation. Trident will get another chance because I think their crew is young and still figuring things out. Great job stepping up and not dodging your mistakes. See ya next go...
