We went to the newly opened Brass Rabbit on a busy Friday evening for an early evening dinner. The decor of the restaurant is really unique and has a dim black and white theme throughout. There are actual brass rabbits attached to the walls next to the tables. The black leather lounge chairs at some of the tables are a nice touch as well. The bar is separated from the other low tables by a wall. I quite like this because if you want to have a nice sit-down/intimate dinner you can do so without it being too crazy and loud from the bar folk.
Now as for food, I loved that they brought out complimentary garlic bites to the table, that is amazing for Clarendon area. For food I got the chic chicken sandwich on a pretzel bun with waffle fries, and my boyfriend got the Reuben. Here is where my otherwise 5 star rating goes down to 3. They DRENCH the bread in so much butter that after each and every single bite, we found ourselves having to wipe our fingers and faces. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m all for a good amount of butter in the right dish, but it was just wayyyy too much. Made the sandwiches feel super heavy in our stomachs and weighed us down for the rest of the day in a bad way. The chicken and beef were great and had amazing flavor but it was overshadowed by the huge amount of butter that was seemingly dumped over the sandwich.
Overall cool asthetic and a great place for happy hour drinks or apps (with...
Read moreI had a nice time at Brass Rabbit for a date. The server was very friendly and attentive and his recommendation for the food choice was spot on. On the contrary I felt the inside of the restaurant, which had beautiful decor, was entirely way too loud for a date. Luckily the weather was not super humid the day we went, which is why we did not mind sitting outside instead. But what really infuriated me was a situation at the restrooms. All 5 of the private stalls were locked and I assume were all occupied, which created a pretty long wait with a line forming. Our server, of all people, immediately took notice that something appeared odd. He then proceeded to knock on all doors, to see if someone was in each of them or if the doors were just accidentally locked. Because the restaurant was so loud, our server actually knocked twice on each door. Finally the one door opens and a member of the restaurant staff comes out, who immediately confronted me asking why I kept knocking on the door ("Did you not hear me say I was in there?"). I advised the individual that I was not the one who knocked on the door and to essentially back off. Not a good look to have one of your staff arguing with a paying customer like that. As a result, I will never dine at your...
Read moreIf you’re thinking about going to the Brass Rabbit, don’t bother. I was really looking forward to brunch, but the whole experience was a big disappointment.
We arrived about 2:00, which is late for brunch, I know, but it still took about 15 minutes to be served coffee and water (!!)
We shared a buffalo cauliflower app, which was good. We ordered a lamb burger and a crab cake Benedict, and they were both just ok. Breakfast potatoes were good, but the burger came with a wilted side salad that had some very dodgy-looking strawberries.
The bar was the worst part of the whole experience. My wife had their version of a Moscow Mule but sent it back because it was “flavorless”. I wanted a Bloody Mary, but they were out of the mix so I ordered a tequila/coffee cocktail which was kind of watery. Later, I ordered a Bombay gin martini, but they were out of it and offered me Tanqueray instead, which I ordered. They ended up bringing me a dirty martini, which is definitely not what I wanted. I drank less than half of it, but the waiter wouldn’t take it off the bill when it came time to pay.
Needless to say, I don’t recommend...
