Tried it when they first opened and was not impressed with the quality of the food for their prices.
Absolutely loved & still do - the decor & ambiance of the restaurant. Loved the style of the menus.
Tried it again last week. Came in around 9pm. Only a couple of seated tables besides me. Ordered a Caesar Salad and a new to me Three Thieves Pinot Grigio. The wine smelled great and was bitter as hell. The salad dressing was definitely NOT a Caesar dressing. If you closed your eyes and randomly tried this salad, you would never guess what the dressing actually was. The croutons were some of hardest I have ever been served. I was incredibly disappointed.
I don't normally order dessert, but decided to order the chocolate brownie sundae. Now this was worthy! Definitely would order again!
Service: they were NOT busy. Took 10 minutes for a waitress to come to my table. Got my wine & menu, then she disappeared. After I got my salad, she failed to check on me again for a good 40 minutes and then showed up at my table with her little machine to check me out. Never once asked how my food was or if I wanted anything else. I had to stop her from asking for my card to tell her I wanted to order dessert. Once she brought my dessert, it took 10 minutes before she showed up to check me out again. They close at midnight. I wasn't the only patron there. I wasn't trying to stay till they closed. I was not appreciative of her efforts to get me to leave. In spite of my irritation over bad food & poor service, I tipped her nicely.
Will I come back? Nope. The quality of food has not improved from my first visit and there are other places that serve better food & have better service.
** Did come back at my son's request. I tried the Thai Salad and it was pretty decent. Had a spicey peanut vinegrette, which wasn't spicy nor really peanut, but very decent overall. Would order ot again. He had the fish & chips, with a cucumber salad. He said the fish was under seasoned, and while he wasn't in love with it, he might order that dish again. He felt the portion was good.....but still $20+ for fish & chips? Should very super tasty at that price.
Service wise, this was a far better experience. Still feel it's not a great restaurant, no matter how much I love...

The food was EXCEPTIONAL. We started out with the sparkling cucumber lemonade, mine was PERFECT but my brother's was much more watered down which wasn't much of a big deal, that's the only negative thing. The Wok-Fired Calamari was SO. GOOD. I was really curious about the plum sauce in the description but it was honestly so good and reminiscent to orange sauce but with a more complex flavor. The real star of the show was the thin yet crispy batter and tender calamari. I've truly never had such tender calamari before and I really enjoyed it!! The bell peppers were cooked perfectly and the peanuts added provided a good crunch.
I've never had butter cake before and if you've never had one before, I strongly recommend you try it at Lazy Dog. It truly lives up to its name. It's a dense, buttery cake with strawberry compote and a gigantic scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on top. The middle is steaming hot (best part of the whole plate is the middle while still hot) it's got a dense crumb, because of this, I highly recommend you eat it as soon as it's on your table because when it cools down, it's no longer as fluffy.
Cajun fries are awesome as always, light crisp and heavily seasoned outer layer with a fluffy inside, my go-to combination is with chipotle aioli but honestly.. you'd enjoy eating these bad boys on their own.
The atmosphere is pleasant, the restaurant theme is super cute and I love walking in and holding the bone-shaped door handle open. Restrooms are always super clean and nicely built, really matches the vibe. If you're ever confused about what you want, you can never go wrong with what's highlighted on the menu!! Thank you Lazy Dog for helping me with this...
Read moreWe finally checked out Lazy Dog, and the atmosphere was amazing — super cozy, welcoming, and definitely not what we expected (we always thought it was a hot dog spot based on the name 😂). Fun surprise: there’s not a single hot dog on the menu!
They gave us a complimentary appetizer for it being our first visit, which was such a nice gesture. They also included a coupon for a future visit — love when places show appreciation like that. 🙌🏾
We tried their parmesan garlic house-made chips as the free app. Great presentation, but a little heavy for us since we deal with acid reflux. Still, it’s something I’d recommend for folks who can handle garlic.
We also had the fried deviled eggs — creative idea, but the flavor didn’t come through. The batter and yolk were bland, and most of the taste came from the honey mustard drizzle and bacon. A simple salt & pepper boost would go a long way.
Same with the fried wings — they were perfectly cooked (tender and juicy), but lacked seasoning. Once dipped in their sauces, though? 🔥 So good. I’d just love to see the wings seasoned a bit more to stand on their own.
🍽️ Dinner was a completely different story — SO flavorful. I had the meatloaf, and my husband had the Korean BBQ bowl — both were delicious and full of flavor. If we go back, it’ll definitely be for dinner (and to try dessert next time!).
Overall, Lazy Dog left a good impression, and we’ll definitely return. Just skip the apps if you’re looking for bold flavor and go straight for...
