I've heard great things about OneZo over the years and have always wanted to check it out. I was in the Arlington area and decided it was the perfect time. The parking lot is pretty big.
The main appeal of Onezo was the house-made tapioca. I liked the flavor, but texture-wise, it was a bit on the soft side for my taste. Loved that the drinks come in bigger sizes and ordering is super easy with plenty of kiosks. Pricing felt fair too.
That said, we ordered several drinks. The drinks with popping boba were too sweet even at 50%, perhaps because of the syrup from the popping boba. I ordered regular sweetness for mine (Tiramisu Oreo Brown Sugar Milk Tea), and I also felt it was too sweet. I'd opt for 50% next time and even lower if I get a drink with popping boba toppings.
I also decided to get the Labubu topper trend just for fun, but honestly didn't love it. The texture was very unsettling, although the design itself is pretty accurate. The Labubu completely melted in the car ride home (it comes in a separate plastic box). The Labubu was definitely more of for the novelty factor, so my disappointment doesn't significantly impact my overall review.
Lastly, the shop itself is pretty small with limited seating and with no public restroom, this is more of a grab-and-go spot versus a cafe I'd stay a long time in to study/hang out...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNot sure I'm sold on this place. We got a matcha latte (no boba or toppings) and a regular milk tea with brown sugar boba.
What others have said about the matcha at a few locations is correct; it's gritty/ chalky. The drink had a bitter aftertaste too, even at 50% sugar. I guess I should've gotten 80%? They also did not have black sesame boba available, which is apparently a popular combination for this drink. I wanted it and was unable to get it.
The other drink wasn't bad, it was just extremely bland. Milk tea is the boba shop staple, it should be excellent. The brown sugar boba had a nice texture, but it barely tasted like anything. We were wondering if sugar was forgotten entirely.
We were the first and only people there, and the pretty simple drinks took 10 min to make. It also came out to a whopping $17 for a medium and large.
I might give a different drink a try, but for the price, it was disappointing.
Edit: Owner replied. I know the sweetness of the drinks is also on me, but that doesn't address the gritty matcha or the really...
Read moreThey have new themes and drinks every week. I came the week of 7/14-7/16 and it was Pokémon theme. I got the Garrr (for Gengar) drink, which is an ube milkshake with coconut sweet foam. It was absolutely delicious and I hope for it to return permanently as a drink. But perhaps the most unique thing about OneZo is the fresh boba. It comes in various flavors, and also has weekly themes. I believe they're made fresh daily. Can't to be back in the future to try their weekly specials.
Came back the weekend of 7/21-7/23 for the new theme. We got the Watermelon and strawberry slushy w/ devil fruit boba and Strawberry kiwi sparkling w/ devil fruit boba.
Loved the watermelon and strawberry slush.
They also have board games that you can play, but only 3...
