What a wonder find!! The restaurant is in the Sanford House Inn (B&B) and is a comfortable quiet "old world" ambiance. The food and service are outstanding far exceeding our expectations. Bria is one of the best witnesses we have had in any 5 star restaurant. She is friendly, a good advisor of food choices, and has an absolutely perfect personality for the hospitality business. Attentive and engaging in both the meal conversation and discussions of personal and business discussions. She made our evening a very special time!! The food was so outstanding and now we know why, kitchen with a sous chef, and executive ,chef , and a station chef. We experienced perfectly matched preparation and presentation of any Michelin 3 star restaurant!! Chef David came out and engaged in a wonderful culinary discussion about or crab cakes, the perfectly cook panic encrusted sea bass, and the wonderful pallet pleasing pesto gnocchi. The flavor is such a wonder blend and texture of the basil, pine nuts, and cheese with the gnocchi!!! Ending with the "decaf"expresso martini left to close the restaurant down! Thanks to a great team. We know behind the scene are the amazing team members also who need to...
Read moreThe Sanford House Restaurant has charming atmosphere and is conveniently located in downtown Arlington. I have been there a few times for brunch and for dinner under the previous chef, and the food was always good. They have a new chef, as of the last 2 months, and in my opinion he has a few things to work out. We had a lovely brunch today, seated in the picture window overlooking the front porch. Service was, meh...not great, not terrible. Two of us ordered the crab Benedict. Both came out lukewarm at best. Potatoes seemed rewarmed, not fresh. We ordered the Creme Brûlée trio for dessert. All 3 were disappointing. They were not true creme brûlée, but a very soft, runny pudding, with a cold caramelized top. They were not freshly caramelized, but done previously and refrigerated, which made the top soft. On the plus side, prices are reasonable. The cranberry mimosa and bloody Mary's were very good. The little muffins they bring out in lieu of bread are delicious! I would go back for brunch, but would make sure the waiter knew that lukewarm eggs would not be acceptable. I think they need to heat the plates prior to dishing up the food. I hope the chef is...
Read moreTook my daughter to UTA; wanted to offer a special brunch to celebrate and enjoy quality time together. We arrived and the tables inside were all taken, so it seems like a poplular place for brunch for the older crowd, reservations recommended if you do not like the outdoor seating. They had a few spaces at the bar and several tables outside -it was a reasonably hot August morning. Waiters were corteous and brought our water quickly. We tried to order grapefruit or orange juice to start with but were informed that all they could offer was mimosas; since I had to drive after brunch, I had to settle for water and soda. My daughter ordered Prime Rib Hash - fried, the meat was completely cooked, dry -pretty bland and below our expectations. I ordered the Crab Benedict which was bathed in the traditional sauce -that was very good. The cakes themselves were tasteless -I could not distinguish the crab except for the consistency. The muffin underlying the eggs was mushy but blended well...
