We are Arlington natives who recently moved to another state, so when we took a trip home to visit our children, we were excited to stay in one of favorite areas of town.
Our check-in wasn’t the smoothest as they put us in a different room than the listing that we booked, but The Rambler did fix the issue quickly. The rest of the visit was a series of problems that made us not want to return.
Issue 1: My daughter took a shower, and within a minute of turning the shower on, the fire alarm for the entire building went off. It was extremely loud, and we weren’t sure what was happening. About 10 minutes later, the fire department knocked on our door and asked if we’d been cooking anything. We said no, and they asked if we were taking a shower. When we replied yes, they said, yeah, they didn’t put the smoke detector in the right place, and the shower sets it off. So this was a known issue that hasn’t been addressed. The alarm was deafening—as it should be— but we had an infant with us who was very upset from the noise, and this could have all been avoided.
Issue 2: We had a storm, and the lightning knocked out the power. This happens, of course, but the issue was that we could no longer leave our apartment because—due to the electronic keypads—there was no way to re-enter the building or our apartment. The electricity was eventually restored, but the outage also knocked out the elevators, and those remained out of order for the rest of our trip. So, this meant carrying we an infant car seat/stroller up and down stairs several times which was not fun.
Issue 3: On our last night, around 11:30 pm, we started hearing loud banging outside in the hallway. It sounded like someone was using a hammer and banging repetitively on wood or furniture? We couldn’t tell and didn’t feel safe looking out. After 45 minutes of continuous banging, I messaged The Rambler to complain. They told us that it was other guests who were “checking out” and that they had asked these guests to “be mindful.” Thirty minutes later, the banging had not stopped, and I messaged again. The Rambler said they had reached out to the guest, but that the guest wasn’t responding. A few minutes later I messaged again and asked them to please call someone, and they replied that “we’ve already told them to leave and are giving them a few minutes to comply. If they don’t, we will call local law enforcement.” Finally, sometime after 1:30 a.m. it stopped.
While the place is nice and in a great location, our impression was that they are just not quite ready to be operating optimally. I know they only recently opened, so perhaps they will address these issues in the future, but I don’t think we’ll take a chance and try again. I also wonder if having on-site management might...
Read moreI want to give this place a better score but at this point I just can’t. The Inn is very nice the rooms are very neat and the location is perfect. However be aware there is construction going on below some units. Everything was great for us until we went to get in bed and pulled back the sheets. We found blood and hairs from previous guests. It was 11pm. I contacted the phone number provided they wanted pictures. I sent them. 30 minutes later they moved us to the room next door. That rooms was ok seems like they may just have a house keeping issue. The man I spoke with stated we will talk in the morning. Since that point I have not spoken with a person on the phone they return our security deposit and kept mentioning that like it was a favor. They told us they would be refunding our cleaning fee and half of our room fee however it has been 10 days since we checked out with no refund and no response from the number that was texting me. At one point the person that was texting me asked me to send him my bank account number!! it’s a shame because we were excited...
Read moreThe place looks nice from the photos. I made a room reservation and received an email stating I needed to fill out a form via the link included in the email. When I clicked the link it took me to my Google login. I was not going to give an external link my info. I made multiple phone calls and emails to the contact info on the reservation email and no response.
I have submitted an email and phone call to cancel the reservation. I will update if they respond and how they handle this situation.
I would’ve liked to have stayed here for the convenience of the location to AT&T.
I have no idea if this is a scam or the owners just don’t care to monitor their properties and inquiries. Using this logic I can only assume that the stay and anything that may need addressing during the stay would be addressed in the same manner.
15 min after posting this review I received a call stating that Ramblers was canceling my reservation and any holds on my card were...
