The English name is misleading, the cuisine served in this restaurant is from Hangzhou, which the Chinese name of the restaurant correctly reflects it. So anyone looking for Szechuan food is going to be a little bit disappointed, but not by much. The reason is because authentic Hangzhou cuisine is definitely worth a try. We ordered the most famous “Dong Po” meat, or deep steamed pork belly marinated in special sweet/savory sauce. It has been one of my favorite food since childhood (I’m from the region). The taste was decent, more nostalgic than anything else tasting something thousands of miles away. However, it was a little disappointing that the meat was pre-cooked and heated when customers order it. The legit way of cooking it is obviously make it to order, but can’t ask for too much in a Hangzhou restaurant in Boston. Stirred fried sticky rice cake was delicious, mixed with bamboo shoots, very authentic.
Overall, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone fancy trying some...
Read moreliterally. so good. actually my favorite place. i am the most pickiest eater out there and i LOVE everything here. the beef with broccoli is my favorite. the broccoli is so crunchy and the sauce is so delicious i like to put it in my rice🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼 the string beans are also really good. not too raw or too old. just perfect😚🤌🏼. the sweet sour fish i just started eating and it just might be the most sophisticated dish i have ever eaten. the inside is so soft and they’re are no bones, ofc. the outside is just the perfect amount of crunch and the sauce is VERY yummy. ive been here since i was six and i’m still excited every time my family says we’re eating here. i would provide pictures but i finished eating bc it was to hard to resist. i would give this place 10 stars if i could....
Read moreThis is a family owned restaurant and the owner is extremely nice. We tried the pork kidneys in oil with scallions, pork intestines with long horned peppers, scallion pancake, rolled scallion pancake with beef, and clams with 雪菜. The scallion pancake was crispy and soft. The pork kidneys were clean and were delicious in the sesame oil broth. The pork intestines had a hit of spice but was well balanced. The dish also includes bamboo shoots. The clams were boiled with the cabbage and bamboo shoots so it had a seafood broth flavor. These dishes are on their home cooked menu (the yellow paper) and although their name says they specialize in Sichuan food, their expertise is in Hangzhou cuisine.
Service is a bit on the slow side because the only server is the owner. Dishes come out...
