If you’re looking for a charming café with an irresistible pastry selection, Tatte Bakery & Café is a must-visit! Whether you're stopping by for a quick coffee, a leisurely brunch, or grabbing pastries to-go, this spot offers a delightful experience with a European touch.
Tatte is a pastry lover’s paradise! Their pain au chocolat is a standout—crispy, flaky, and best enjoyed warmed up for that perfect melt-in-your-mouth chocolate experience. The morning bun has a fantastic flavor, and the strawberry turnover, while tasty, could use a bit more filling. The pastry display alone is worth the visit—so many tempting options to choose from!
Beyond pastries, Tatte’s menu is extensive and filled with delicious options. The Jewish bagel with eggs is a classic, and the shakshuka is an absolute must-try—a hearty, flavorful dish served with thick, chewy, perfectly toasted bread. Portion sizes are generous, so bring your appetite!
Coffee at Tatte is handcrafted and worth the wait, but be prepared—it can take some time during peak hours. Their lattes are smooth and well-balanced, though some specialty drinks like the matcha and pistachio lattes were just okay. If you’re in a rush, grabbing a coffee elsewhere might be the better move.
The bright, airy space makes Tatte a perfect brunch spot or a cozy place to get work done. Stylish hexagon tiles, a clean minimalist aesthetic, and plenty of seating (both indoors and outdoors) make for a relaxed and inviting environment.
Location & Parking Tatte is located in Reston Town Center, a lively area that adds to the experience. Parking is available in nearby garages (free on weekends and after 5 PM on weekdays!). During peak hours, it can be tough to find a seat, so plan accordingly.
Service & Experience Service is friendly and efficient, but it’s a busy spot, so expect some wait times—especially for coffee. One unique aspect? They bring your food to your table, but you’re expected to clear your dishes afterward—a small but important note for first-timers!
Tatte Bakery & Café is a beautiful brunch spot with high-quality food and pastries worth indulging in. Whether you’re craving a fresh-baked pastry, a hearty shakshuka, or just a well-made cappuccino, Tatte delivers.

Read moreMy recent visit to Tatte Bakery & Cafe in Clarendon, a venue renowned for its artisanal baked goods and café offerings, left me with a mixed array of impressions that traversed from excitement to disappointment. While Tatte Bakery is often celebrated for its ambiance and unique pastries, my experience highlighted certain aspects that fell short of the high expectations associated with this establishment.
To commence on a positive note, the ambiance at Tatte Bakery & Cafe exudes a charming European-inspired aesthetic. The warm, rustic décor and the enticing aroma of freshly baked goods create an inviting atmosphere, setting the stage for what one would hope to be a delightful culinary journey.
However, the excitement waned as I delved into the baked goods. The pastries I sampled seemed to lack the freshness one would expect from a bakery of Tatte's reputation. The flavors were not as vibrant as anticipated, and there were discernible hints that some of the offerings might have been past their prime. This aspect was particularly disappointing, as Tatte is widely recognized for its commitment to delivering high-quality, freshly baked treats.
Another concern surfaced in the cleanliness department. The restroom facilities, a crucial component of the overall dining experience, did not meet the standards one would expect. The state of the toilets left much to be desired, introducing an element of discomfort and detracting from the otherwise pleasant ambiance of the establishment. Cleanliness is paramount in a bakery and café setting, and it's disheartening when this aspect is not given the attention it deserves.
Cost, too, emerged as a consideration. Tatte Bakery & Cafe positions itself as a premium destination, and while the quality of the offerings is often commensurate with the pricing, my experience left me questioning the value proposition. The perceived discrepancy between cost and the overall satisfaction of the dining experience is a factor that patrons may weigh when choosing Tatte as a destination.
In conclusion, Tatte Bakery & Cafe in Clarendon, while boasting an inviting ambiance and a reputation for artisanal baked goods, fell short during my recent visit. Concerns about the freshness of the pastries, cleanliness of the facilities, and the perceived value for the cost create a narrative that may give potential patrons pause. It is my hope that Tatte addresses these concerns to ensure that its reputation for excellence is consistently upheld, providing a truly delightful experience for all who step...
Read moreHonest Review from someone who doesn’t usually write reviews. Obvious Health Hazard.
Tatte has built a brand of being a cute cafe with nice ambience- this was why this past weekend my family and I decided to have a quick bite to eat at their Clarendon location. When we walked in we grabbed menus to pick out what to eat and when we got to the cashier we found out that none of what we wanted on the menu was available. The cashier (a petite Latina who seemed to be middle aged) was very impatient as we were now trying to change our orders… she should have anticipated that we were going to need a minute to change the order. She could have had a rough day, but for the average customer, we didn’t do anything to deserve her rolling her eyes at us and treating us so negatively.
We shrugged it off and continued to our table- The food was decent for a cafe and we loved that it was Mediterranean styled because we’re middle eastern, but half our party’s food took over 30 minutes to get to them. When someone went to check it out, they found it sitting on the counter (it had been ready for a while and no one brought it). It almost seemed like the cashier (who was also our waitress)left it there and served all of the other people who ordered after them.
NONE of this was a big issue to us…we’ve had bad service before annd usually try to give the worker the benefit of the doubt… I’d also like to add I don’t usually EVER write reviews…But here’s where it took a turn. Members in my family noted that we felt a little nauseous after eating.. but we mostly ignored it. Then… before we left, I saw an employee, a young man go into the restroom with his food prep apron on. This is a HUGE health hazard on SO many levels. Good safety requires that he remove his apron before entering the restroom, otherwise bacteria from the restroom would contaminate his apron.
The germs…the apron.. he goes back to the kitchen to prep food on a counter that his apron is touching.. that HE is touching.
Listen.. I’m just done. I don’t think I’ll ever go to that Tatte or any other one either which is very sad because I love the ambience and their cute little tea pots..
But I love my health more....
