Let me start by saying the our waitress and the manager for our dinner were amazing. That said we did have a strange experience with the three guys who brought out our food. They brought out our foods like normal on large trays and started placing the food at our table (party of 8). Then all of a sudden all 3 men just left with two entrées still sitting on the trays. We waited for maybe 2 minutes thinking they forgot something but we saw them serving another table so one of our guests just got up and finished serving the food. The waitress came out and saw what was going on and asked what happened. She was very embarrassed and immediately went to the female manager who came by and apologized. Maybe it was just miscommunication but still odd. Being from Texas I may be a bit hypocritical of the TexMex but the food was okay. We still had a good time but very pricey for what you get. I would compare this to a TGI Fridays or Chili's chain level of quality and taste so if you go with that expectation you won't be disappointed. Thank you to the waitress and manager for your kindness.

Great family friendly Mexican restaurant just near the Ballston Metro, that serves up delicious food but plan to be waiting around for it. We took our family of four for lunch and had a great time, ate great food, and the kids were given great respect by the staff. The food was high quality, with the kids having quesadillas and my wife and I having fajitas. Everything was perfectly cooked, the flavours were strong, the spice level was mild. The portion size was okay given the cost, but there are more generous restaurants out there if you are a big eater. The margaritas were delicious, but the size and alcohol content was not as generous as other places given the price point. The staff were friendly, made us feel welcome, and we're great at there job. The only point to note was that it was all so slow, from the circuit the wait staff took, to the time it took for food to come out (we were in early so it wasn't busy yet). Anyway had a great overall experience, would definitely recommend it to friends, and can't wait to go back!

We went here for the first time as it’s close to our hotel. We thought we were being simple - we each ordered fajita style nachos - steak and chicken, cheese, and chips. No vegetables or anything. Just wanted to be plain with it. Instead we received a plate with maybe 8 tortilla chips, each chip was smeared with beans, each chip had a little Monterey Jack cheese melted, and each had one piece of stead and chicken per chip with all the veg still on the plate. This was not what we talked about with our waiter at all. When we mentioned it didn’t look right he walked off. We didn’t see him again for probably 10/15 mins. I ate a few of the chips, but wasn’t a fan. The wife when she told him it wasn’t what she ordered and had beans and everything he began to argue before finally taking it back. Another 10 mins go by and we finally got a check for the one we ate a few bites of. $20 for those nachos….definitely wasn’t how we wanted to spend the first date night we have had in a long time without the kids!

Review:

I recently had an absolutely dreadful experience at Uncle Julio's that left me feeling violated and deeply disappointed. During my my wife visit, she accidentally left a credit card behind, only to discover later that one of the waiters had brazenly stolen it. The thief had the audacity to use my card for unauthorized transactions totaling a staggering $736.

Disturbed and shaken by this incident, wife immediately brought the matter to the attention of the restaurant manager, hoping for some resolution and accountability. However, her encounter with the manager proved to be even more disheartening. They displayed a shocking lack of concern and empathy for the situation, offering no assistance or reassurance.

Feeling helpless, I took matters into my own hands and promptly filed a police report against Uncle Julio's. This should have been a wake-up call for the establishment to take responsibility and make amends. Yet, to my utmost dismay, they chose to ignore the severity of their negligence and the distress they caused me.

Despite their clear liability in the matter, Uncle Julio's refused to refund the stolen funds, leaving us to bear the burden of their incompetence and the financial loss I incurred. Their lack of accountability and unwillingness to rectify their wrongdoing speaks volumes about their integrity and disregard for their customers' well-being.

I implore anyone reading this review to reconsider dining at this Uncle Julio's. This establishment has demonstrated a blatant disregard for customer safety and satisfaction. Your personal information and financial security are clearly not a priority to them. Protect yourself and your hard-earned money by avoiding this Uncle Julio's at all costs. There are countless other restaurants that prioritize their customers' welfare and will provide you with the quality service...

I am usually not the one to complain or speak up, however my experience was absolutely terrible. My lady and I wanted Mexican food in the area to celebrate our 6 month anniversary. After making reservations the staff was confused regarding our reservation upon arrival. After being seated in an extremely noisy area, no wait staff member came to our table for 20 minutes. After waiting, I went to the hostess stand to ask for service and I sensed an attitude from the Manager. No empathy or apology just simply "I will get someone". The Waiter came 5 minutes later and couldn't provide suggestions on the menu or drinks. We started with two margaritas with too much mix within them, quesadilla which was cold and did not contain the full ingredients mention on the menu and queso dip with added beef which was extremely salty and not edible. Next, no Waiter or Staff member comes back for 30 minutes to refill our chips, water, drinks or ask for entrée orders. At this point my Lady and I are just ready to get the check and leave. I was forced to go back to the Hostess stand to find our server. Meanwhile, I see multiple staff members and Managers standing around and doing nothing. The hostess at the time was the most helpful member all night. The Waiter did get the check right and wished us a goodnight. Had to go to another restaurant and wait 45 minutes to actually eat last night, even though reservations were made and was willing to support local business. I grew up loving Uncle Julio's and my nostalgic memories are now erased. I will not be going back....

I wish I could say that my experience was a good one here tonight. Full disclosure: the food is not bad and the restaurant was NOT busy; however, if you have a large group (5 or more) I would try somewhere else if I were you. They planned VERY poorly for our group of 18 (after we called 2 weeks in advance). This was the second birthday celebration I've had at this restaurant, and both experiences were unfortunately similar. I thought maybe it was a bad night for them the first time, but after it happening again tonight I have determined that they cannot handle large groups. The service was slow, inattentive and not very timely in getting things delivered. What is worse; the manager was nowhere to be found until we insisted to see him at the end of the night. Clearly he had no awareness that a large table of people, spending money like everyone else in the restaurant, was unhappy for majority of their visit (3hrs). Once we got the manager, he failed to take responsibility for the items [on their part] that were LATE, and proceeded to blame the customer. That was the WRONG APPROACH, please don't expect much from him if you have issues during your visit. I brought my friends here from out of town, and I am slightly embarrassed that this was their impression. I also felt bad not leaving my server 20%; however, after dealing with the manager she got no help from him. If anything, he made it worse. Again, the food wasn't bad, but if you want someone there to just take your initial food and drink order .......
