My family and I were looking for a ramen house that's close to our hotel and CU Boulder because we wanted to have dinner with our daughter and her roommate in college before we left to go back home. Our family has had its fair share of several ramen restaurants in our home city of Las Vegas and in Hawaii, so it's nothing new to us; however, we wanted to be sure the place we pick is legit and not something that feels like we're being served Top Ramen from the grocery store. We found this place and decided to go here on 27 Aug 2023 based on proximity and its majority of positive Google reviews.
When we walked in, we were greeted nicely and allowed us to pick our table. The first thing I noticed was the modern decor and cleanliness of the dining area. The menu was simple which added to the comfort of picking out what to eat (I'm not a fan of those restaurants that have 4-6 pages worth of stuff, adding stress to your decision-making process).
We ordered the Gyoza and Fried Chicken for our appetizers and the Miso Ramen, Shoyu Ramen, and 2x Tonkotsu Ramen for our entrees. We had mixed opinions at our table about the Gyoza, but overall, it was decent. The Fried Chicken was phenomenal, hands-down. As for the ramen, I was shocked and elated to see so much broth in every bowl. The flavor and texture of the chashu was outstanding; I was impressed to see a thicker cut of chashu than what I'm used to receiving at other ramen restaurants I've visited. I was slightly disappointed that I couldn't add whatever I wanted to my ramen. I tried to add shrimp to it but was told that it is only for the seafood ramen, which I didn't understand because it was an option in the "extra" section. I've never had this issue at other ramen houses, but hey, I didn't lose any sleep over it. Overall, the flavor of the broth, texture of the noodles/ingredients, and spice level were exquisite.
The price to quality/quantity ratio was superb and the service from what it appeared to be only two people taking orders and serving was extraordinary. I was bummed to hear that they didn't have any desserts at this restaurant, which is weird for me because ramen houses normally have at least mochi or taiyaki to serve. It didn't bother me as much as it did my daughter, but hey, we ended up finding a dessert place down the street.
If I lived here, I would definitely come back another time, but since I don't, all I can do is recommend this restaurant to all locals...
Read moreHad SUCH high hopes for this place and was so excited to try it out. Ended up having one of the worst dinners I've ever had.
My boyfriend and I came in around 6 pm for dinner, we were the only customers at the time. Ordered the curry ramen spicy with garlic and tonkotsu ramen spicy with garlic, tempura, and 2 sodas. Tempura was fine. The two staff members in the dining room were joking around and being insanely loud our entire visit. It made us extremely uncomfortable being the only people in the restaurant.
Waiter forgot to bring out our sodas. No big deal, I said "excuse me" politely multiple times when he went to seat the only other party in the restaurant and take their order only to be ignored every time. Its VERY quiet in this restaurant, we were totally ignored.. He never checked in on us once the entire time. After my 3rd attempt I had to walk up to the register to ask. He did not apologize and forgot what sodas we ordered. (We were well into our ramen at this point) Ramen was simply just not good. Neither of our ramen had any spice nor garlic even though we requested it. It was flavorless. The noodles were equatable to instant noodles. The pork was so tough and gross. Didn't even finish.
It was oveall just awkward, disappointing. And not good. I'm normally so forgiving and understanding of mistakes and whatever, but this was totally just something else. We were extremely polite and understanding the entire visit but there's really just no excuse. It ended up being $40, they didn't comp the sodas even though we didn't get them until the very end after I asked multiple times. (It's $2 for a single can,, no refills)Just awkward, not worth it. Won't...
Read moreWe walked in at 7:10pm on a Saturday night, no one was there to greet us so we stood there for a few minutes. We weren’t sure if you were supposed to order at the front or be seated. When the woman working there came out she still didn’t acknowledge us. I finally asked if we supposed to order at the front or sit down? She turned and looked at the clock and said we close at 8pm. I was like okay that is 50 min away? I could see suggesting take out instead of it was 7:45 or something. But we had nearly an hour. For ramen, which is pretty quick.
After being seated someone else came to wait on us and the food and the rest of the experience was actually pretty good. The fried chicken appetizer was delicious. The ramen was pretty standard. Its $15 per bowl and is a very large serving. Would be nice to see different sizes. I would of liked about half the amount. They also charge you $1 per to-go bowl. Based on the weird attitude we got when walking in we probably won’t go back. We were done and eating and had paid and were walking out the...
