In terms of coffee quality, it's one of the top 3 coffee shops in the Denver area that I've been to, and has the advantage of being the closest to me. I generally get plain lattes for reference, but I imagine their espresso is top notch. The pure espresso mixed with the froth when I first drink a latte tells me a lot about the quality of coffee at a coffee shop, and the espresso at two rivers is so rich and smooth, like a good scotch. After the frothy espresso is drunk down, which doesn't take long because it's so good, the rest of the latte doesn't taste like simply milky coffee, and retains a lot of the complexity from the espresso. This isn't always the case and in my experience is another way that good coffee shops are set apart from lesser ones.
It has a modern look, but not tacky and stark. The coffee bar is right in the middle which is cool and gives it a lot of open space. To me it has a library feel, which I love, and makes it a great environment to study or work on things. There is also ample shaded outdoor seating, which is a bonus.
The employees are all great from what I've seen - always willing to chit chat and take an active interest in what you have to say. Otherwise they are good people and provide awesome customer service.
Be aware that it's part of a strip mall which is pretty busy on the weekends so parking can be tough to come by, but I've always been able to park, maybe just have...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo let me start by saying this was a well recommended shop and that I have been a craft coffee professional for nearly a decade. I will say that my standard is high, but that is because i have a trained palette. I understand that there are thousands of schools of thought on what good coffee is, but when I order a single origin espresso shot, and itās served to me as ALL crema, I can tell you right away that itās extremely under-extracted and should not have been served. They did not have any soda water for me to cleanse the flavor and only offered still. Why have all that fancy equipment if youāre doing a disservice to me and the beans by serving up bad brews instead of taking the extra couple of minutes to dial in your recipe throughout the day? You only have one option for single origin, so I honestly expected more. I was able to tell there was something wrong just watching my shot pull so fast, and then was shocked when I got it served to me without hesitation. Did I order ristretto? No, So why give me one? On other days I had nice experiences, but now I think its a gamble. The other reason is the poor Wi-Fi connection. I would like to be able to get work done after I order my coffee (like...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTwo Rivers is THE pinnacle of hipster coffee. The waiting line makes no since (do you go outside, do you stand awkwardly by the counter and wait, do you form a line to the right; NO ONE knows!), the baristas/cashiers are mean AF (the fact that you are there is getting in the way of them exploring the ever expanding world of coffee knowledge; peasants like me and you are simply an inconvenience to this exploration), it takes FOREVER to get your coffee (my god they are slowwww; also, no time to smile or converse when they are busy brewing coffee...), Also this place is TINY (good luck finding a seat next to the 100 other people in there who think 2Rs is their own personal office), BUT BUT BUT 2 rivers has THE BEST COFFEE in the Denver area. Who knew you had to go all the way to the burbs of Arvada to get a decent cup of brown, but you will not be disappointed after you eventually get your fresh cup.
PS- I am probably being a little over critical of the baristas due to the fact that they are clumped together in a small cube of steam and grind, day in and...
