In January Action took in my laptop for a new monitor and connector cable. A week later I was told they got the wrong monitor but could repair the cable. Several days later my laptop was ready for pick up and the price was surprisingly reasonable. Unfortunately my satisfaction ends there. A short time after taking my laptop home I found it would not connect to my wifi unless I was no further away than 3-4'. I exchanged my router twice thinking that was the issue. It was not. I brought my laptop back in and was told I could leave for 1-2 weeks before they could get to it. I explained I use it for business and could not do without for that long. While acknowledging the problem may have been caused by the previous opening of the monitor case, there was no willingness to expidite assessment and repair. Months later I returned and literally begged for them to at least look at it immediately. No promises were made but he said he would try his best. I reluctantly left my computer stating I would return before closing to pick it up. I reiterated I use the laptop for business and could not be without it. We'll I returned to the store at 4:55pm to pick up my computer and low and behold the store was closed! More than an hour before the posted closing time. So here I am the night before a 1.1 million dollar bid is due and I have NO COMPUTER or the file on it to submit my bid in the morning. My customers have learned that if they are not satisfied I am not satisfied! Unfortunately Action Computers does not the same! This review was originally a 1 star review when posted. Jason the General Manager reached out to me the very next day and offered both temporary and longer term solutions to my customer service issues. I will continue to use Action Computers for all...
Read moreI went in there for what I believed would be an easy, quick fix. I have a Dell Laptop that is quite old (as far as laptops go). After downloading a program it couldn't handle, it had to restart and revert to an earlier system when it worked. This erased Google Chrome as well and this meant that I had NO WAY to get on the internet (I use it for work, internet is essential). I called the Dell Tech support and they were only happy to help, but for a fee and they wouldn't tell me how much it would be just that it would cost me. I wasn't about to pay an unknown amount for phone support so I declined, hung up and ran over to Action Computers. I was aware of Action Computers as a few people I knew had already recommended them to me in the past in general conversation about computers. The young man who helped me was very nice, knew what he was doing and had it fixed in less than 10 minutes. And I had been right, Chrome was uninstalled, just needed to be reinstalled, but hard to do with no access internet :) He didn't even charge me, though I would have been happy to pay. I was never talked down to or berated or made to feel stupid even if my tech/computer knowledge is less than theirs (let's admit, that can be a problem). After he fixed my laptop, I started asking questions about laptops available in their shop because I know the current one will need to be replaced at some point given its daily use and age. He didn't try to point me to more than I needed, listened and respected my budget and data requirements, and gave solid advice and information. I will most certainly return to them for any computer support needs as well as to replace the current laptop when I need to. Couldn't have...
Read moreWent in for my first time building a pc, I knew the basics and was looking into parts. At first, everyone was helpful and explanatory. They had set me up with many basic parts and essentials that should work as a simple pc build. However being my first pc I had some trouble with some of the wiring. So I came back the next day asking a where several pins connected to, but instead of helping me find answers like they had said they would on the prior day, they told me it would cost me another 50-100 dollars to get help. This was a fee they had never mentioned and it seemed to come out of nowhere. Along with that they stopped answering any of my other problems. Such as the fact that they hadnt mentioned that some of the parts they sold me required drivers that they didn't have and refused to refund for or help me find. After around a week of trial and error I managed to get the computer parts they sold me to finally turn on, only to see that each part was from a different period of time, ranging from windows xp to windows 7. This was especially disappointing as they had told me that the pieces would all be from the same time and work together, to which they did neither. Action Computers is great if you are looking to buy a single cheap part, but do not expect...
