The addition of Tikka masala to the small strip mall of 64th St. next to home cooking café is a wonderful new addition that definitely deserves a look. My wife and I discovered this restaurant the other day which had been a somewhat uninspiring pizza restaurant previously if I remember correctly, and I have to say without a doubt, it is some of the best Indian food I have had in a long time or possibly ever. My wife and I started with the Momo dumplings which were excellent and the coconut shrimp with a wonderful sauce that I believe included chickpeas and curry as well as what would appear to be a chickpea fritter that was brought to the table in a complementary fashion. I chose to try the ginger chicken kebab and my wife went with the lamb vindaloo, both were savory with complex flavor profiles cooked perfectly and presented nicely. We decided to go medium on the spice level and as it turns out, I could probably go higher, but we weren’t sure so we remained cautious. On a slightly less impressive note, I think the dining area kind of seems like an afterthought and could use some design elements and attention, but I think they are making do with what they have and it was adequate and clean. The servers were extremely courteous and professional, and very kind. I did not see them standing around talking on their phones. I saw them greeting customers cleaning and working. Overall, I thought the value for the price was excellent and we are both overjoyed that a quality restaurant has taken over the spot and seems to be doing very well. I will say this is not a fast food restaurant and as such the time from ordering to getting the food to the table could be considered lengthy for some people that are in a hurry., that being said, these things are made to order for the most part and that requires time. So maybe don’t stop by if you only have 10 minutes for your lunch break… This is not a knock on the restaurant at all. This is just a realistic observation. The menu is quite varied, and even if Indian food may not be your thing I would definitely recommend giving this place a try. We were more than pleasantly surprised and quite frankly can’t...
Read moreOk, First, the food was very good. However, have some grace. I do think they are becoming a victim of their own success. Working in the restaurant business in a previous life, it is nerve wracking for the employees at times when orders, especially those that are home made and good, take a while. This is not McD's.
We ordered online. Their online order system is not hooked up to their kitchen receipt printer. Meaning, as another reviewer posted, the poor guy was hand writing online orders from an iPad to a paper ticket. If you do order online, maybe head in 15 minutes after it says your order will be ready. Those online systems are just default times set in the software, not necessarily and accurate time. These systems are typically purchased a la carte and third party for the businesses and are expensive and a pain to integrate into their other sales systems. I hope they find an alternative or better way to handle those.
My suggestion, call in your order. Those were done on their Point of Sale system and those went directly to the kitchen.
Secondly, this place is a fairly new place with really good food, but very small staff. On a Friday night they seemed a bit overwhelmed.
I would say, again, as a person who has worked in the restaurant industry, please have some grace.
In an age of every at our finger tips and our unrealistic expectations that everything should be given to us NOW, it would do us all some good to have some empathy.
Great food, Give some grace, Be prepared to wait a bit on the weekends Hopefully they can work out the...
Read moreUpdate Sept 2025: My last two visits weren’t as good as my first. I was given butter chicken instead of tikka masala even though I confirmed the order, the naan has been pretty bland, and their chutney was pure liquid (more liquid than before). Not sure what’s going on, but the main dish flavors are still great and service has been quick.
This was my first time ordering food from Tikka Masala, and I’m so happy I did.
I saw a funny TikTok video about how those who aren’t Indian always order the chicken tikka masala or butter chicken, and that chefs are bored 😂 So I branched out from my usual dish and ordered a few new things.
The chicken vindaloo was DELICIOUS! A ton of flavor and everything was cooked perfectly. Medium spice was a little on the mild side.
The butter naan and mint chutney were also great. The chutney was maybe a little watery, but the flavor made up for that.
I’d never had Kheer before, but it was so good and I’d definitely order again.
The restaurant is in a strip mall and the interior could use a little excitement, but it was clean, the food was ready quickly, and the gal at the counter was nice. I also need to add that the prices are so reasonable. With me ordering a main dish, side, and dessert, it was only $28 (plus tip). Unheard...
