We visited June 6, 2024
5 stars is difficult to attain. 4 stars overall for:
The cleaner they use for the tables & chairs made them uncomfortably sticky - BUT THEY WERE CLEAN! (Perhaps it's due to the type of material the table & chairs were made of?)
The chairs were the most uncomfortable chairs we'd ever sat in. If we went again, it would ONLY be for Takeout - despite the nice visit.
It was good food but not the best Grecian style we've had. (See: Riverside Cafe, St Mary's, GA!)
Atmosphere:
The foyer was nice: had windows in it so you could see if somebody was coming in @ the same time you were & it made the foyer not seem so tiny (claustrophobic).
Bright interior was inviting
The music was a tad on the loud side, but was enjoyable
They even have a TV displaying Greece islands!
Food:
My partner liked the food better than I did.
We had the OMG sampler
Good portions - could easily feed 4-6 people if one had a salad beforehand or rice was added AND it would still allow for a couple days worth of leftovers.
However:
It came with a tiny offering of tzatziki sauce, tiny offering of pita bread slices - definitely not enough for the amount of food on the platter. We didn't mind using a tiny bit of the sauce (however, a tiny bit meant we could barely appreciate the sauce) but more would've been better to eat the meal as it's intended
No lettuce or rice or tomatoes to make it into real meal offering BUT HE DID OFFER TO MAKE IT THIS WAY FOR US

The Dip Sampler came with very warm pita bread triangles (approximately 15-18 pieces) and one scoop each of each dip. The dips were creamy and flavorful. My only complaint was they combined all three dips into one carryout container (to minimize the cost of additional carryout containers, IMO) which resulting some of the dips mixing with others. In the end, it didn't matter because the flavor and taste was the winner.
The O.M.G. Sampler came with a Chicken Skewer, Pork Skewer, OPA! Burger Meat, OPA! Gyro Meat, Chicago Gyro Meat, OPA! Fries, Pita and Tzatziki. The entire sampler was hot and well flavored, especially with an abundance of tzatkiki in which to dip. Each skewer had approximately 5 pieces of meat, which were flavorful and well seasoned. The OPA! burger meat came in a long piece, which easily broke apart allowing for dipping with the tzatziki. The burger meat was a pleasant surprise, also crafted with great taste and flavor. The OPA! gyro meat dotted the sides and bottom of the carryout container. It was also well seasoned and very flavorful. The Chicago Gyro Meat was tasty, but came in very small pieces, which did not allow for easy dipping with the tzatziki. It was tasty, but it was also the only meat I did not finish before I left the state of Virginia some 30 minutes later. The fries were a nice addition, but having been at the bottom of the container, they became soggy and not particularly appetizing by time I ate through the excellent meat in the sampler meal. They would be best served by placing them in a separate container from the meat, whose heat creates condensation in the carryout container between the restaurant and almost any location to which you carry it "home".
On a side note, this Greek food is so good, I would consider driving the 3.5-4 hours back to Ashalnd from the suburbs of Pittsburgh PA just to experience their...
Read moreI want to start this review by saying this is the first time I write a review of any business. I don't like to complain. Also, I've eaten at Opa Mezze Grille before, maybe about 4 times, and have not gotten sick before.
I just want the public to know how the owner of Opa Mezze Grille treated me when I complained about getting sick from something I ate today at her restaurant. I had the Opa Chicken dish for dinner. I finished dinner, and went home. I live about 5 minutes away from the restaurant. After I got home I started feeling ill, experiencing strong cramps and got really sick to my stomach. In between the cramp episodes I called the restaurant to speak with the owner. Out of courtesy I wanted to let her know I got very sick, so that she didn't serve the Opa Chicken again tonight. The owner did not even let me finish explaining what was going on. She got very upset, raised her voice, and said "nobody gets sick with my food" "my chicken is good". I told her I did not want anything from her. I just wanted to make sure she knew so that nobody else got sick. She continued to talk over me, and said nobody gets sick so quickly from eating something, "it takes 6 hours" for someone to get sick from food". I definitely know I got sick from that chicken. The experience got worse by the owner totally dismissing my concerns, yelling, and not...
