Black Bear is usually fantastic. The ugly burger is great. However, today I had the WORSE experience I've ever had with a restaurant in my life! Called to place a delivery order for lunch at work today. Three of us were ordering. I was planning to order the Ugly burger. My total was going to be $11. The website states the ugly burger is $7.25. We were told that because we were paying separately there would be a $2 delivery charger per order. Going to the same place. Which still doesn't explain why my order was $11. Anyway, we canceled the order. We decided to put it all on one card and pick up. So we call back. Then I realize that my card has already been charged the $11. The person on the phone states that it will be end of her shift before a refund will be issued. I spoke with the manager who said yes, he would do it as soon as he got the chance. Probably around 2. So at 4 when the money hadn't been refunded I called back. The manager was very rude to me. And stated that $10 had been voided from my card number. I explained that my card had been charged $11. I again told him that I just checked the account and it was $11 and the girl told us on the phone $11. He said to me "I don't care what you were told I'm telling you $10 is voided " I replied with so when I come there and show you tomorrow that $11 is charged, even if the $10 is refunded tonight (since he doesn't go to the bank until 10pm and even showing voided on his computer, the money isn't back in my account) am I going to be redunded. His exact words to me after laughing at me were, and I quote, "honey you bring me proof and I'll pay you double". I realize this is only a $1 difference. But that isn't the point. The point is I was charged and did not receive a good or service. So I should be refunded. You better believe, if $11 isn't refunded to my bank account by morning, I will be there tomorrow with my bank statement expecting to be paid double! Don't place an order for delivery and...
Read moreThe website was a little glitchy; every time I tried to add an item to the cart, the screen would freeze, and when I tried to refresh it deleted the items I'd already added. That happened about three times, which can be enough to deter me, but I am glad I persisted with my order. We ordered takeout, so don't have much to say about the restaurant itself--it was clean and relatively quiet when we went to pick up our food. The service was good, the food was fresh and ready when we walked in, and the pickup was very quick. The food itself was delicious. We ordered three flavors of wings and sauces. The price for bone-in and boneless wings was the same, and the price was great for bone-in wings (but pretty exorbitant for boneless). We ordered bone-in. All the wings came very well sauced, and the containers of side sauce were full and seemed freshly poured. Both ranch and blue cheese dressings were good quality. Everyone was happy with their meals and ate enthusiastically. Only one wing out of the eighteen individual wings we received seemed too small to count as an actual wing, but that ratio is pretty good compared to all the chains in the area. Overall, the price and speed for this quality of food is a steal. This was a great, delicious meal, and everyone was more than satisfied. We are all excited to return. Read moreI used to recommend this place to everyone but that has changed due to a recent experience. Some of the employees at my office ordered lunch delivery and spent around 60 bucks. Well, when the food came, there were some things that were not right. The person who called the order in called the restaurant to let them know and the woman she spoke to was incredibly rude and insulting. She also hung up on my co-worker 3 times. When asked for a manager, all she would say was that there was "no one available". After the 4th call, the restaurant offered to refund the money on 2 of the orders. Later, the same co-worker called to speak to the manager to inquire about when the refund would be applied and was told "First of all you're not getting anything until I run my batch at the end of the night"...he spoke very condescendingly to her and at the end of the call said. "Now I'm gonna charge you double" and hung up on her. So NO, I would NOT recommend anyone ever again to this place. Ever. I don't care what your food is like. If you think you have so many customers that you can just be rude and disrespectful, eventually you won't have ANY. Remember that. Without us (customers), you won't have a restaurant.
