Very disappointed by my visit to Ichiban, especially during COVID. I no longer live in the area, but stopped in to eat on my way home after a visit with family and was met with a poor experience from the moment I walked in. The hostess was not friendly and when we were taking a seat at the hibachi table, there were no plexiglass proctetants in place to prevent other guests from being directly involved with the food and they were only placing guests 1 seat apart from other parties. This is not 6 feet of distancing, despite their signs all over saying to distance. When asked if I could move an additional chair length away, I was told no and the staff seated guests on the other side of my fiancé as well. I said that this was too close and I wasn't comfortable with that and for the remainder of our dining experience, staff continued to give us looks letting us know how upset they were with us. The reason COVID spreads is not enough distance and I should have been able to distance at a distance that felt comfortable to me. They also added an upfront 18% on gratuity. My dinner was $75 for a terrible experience and poor treatment. I also did not receive any acknowledgment for my dining experience by the hostess on my way out; she continued to talk to the other hostess and ignore us. I want...
Read moreWe dined in and ate at the grill where they cook in front of you. They have other tables for people who would rather not see the show and just eat at their own table. If you eat at the grill there will be other people sitting with you around the grill. The chef does a lot of juggling with the cutlery, he makes a big fire, and he creates a volcano out of raw onion rings. It's a good show. It's fun. You will get a ton of rice and vegetables. And depending on the meat you order you get regular portions of steak and shrimp but usually more chicken. The imperial dinner is a good choice so you get all 3 meats. Soup and salad are included. That soup would be awesome to order to go on a cold day at home. They have the white sauce which taste good on everything but especially good on the rice and vegetables. I like the ginger sauce for the steak. Ginger sauce could also work on the vegetables. I like the white sauce for the shrimp also. I like extra teriyaki sauce for my chicken. I have never seen anyone be able to eat all of their food except one time and it happened to be at this restaurant. Most people have plenty to take home though. And they have plenty of sushi to choose from if that's what you prefer. The chef was great. The...
Read moreI got 3 simple rolls but all were tasty. This was the most potent wasabi I have ever had - kudos! I normally destroy wasabi and this was so intense it felt like it was the first time I ever had wasabi all over again.
Sushi chefs saw me admiring a plate of crab salad , trying to figure out what the heck it was while at my table, and they had a server bring me a plate of it for free! Place was slammed and we got the last available table so I was appreciative they were nice enough to even look up and do something like that with how busy it was. Atmosphere was kinda dark and dated, they had some dining area sections I would hate to sit in (like a small office or something they converted to fit like 5 more tables in but is cut off from the rest of the restaurant and really well lit for some reason and zero decor.) hibachi area had a few instances of burning stuff which led to some foul acrid smells over the course of our dinner. Wife ordered hibachi and steak was over cooked and veggies had some inconsistent cooking (burned) too, and for $29 is ridiculous. I think some improvements to the atmosphere and ventilation and menu pricing and friendlier hosts could take this to 5 star for a casual...
