I hate posting a negative review, but I have been disturbed about this place since our experience there on 6/9/23. I do not have the financial resources to be able to afford to pay for a possible repeat of this experience. Frankly, I don’t think the owner cares enough to improve it. I will give it a fair shake if the opportunity arose for a big discount or the like (not that I expect it). My party of 5 arrived for hibachi as advertised on their sign and website, only to find out they do not have a hibachi service, only table delivery of their version of hibachi. Being 8:30pm on a Friday, we felt we had to stay. They sat us at a table that did not have proper circular clearance, so 3 of us were being bumped into the entire time. It took 20 minutes to get a glass of water. Their bartender didn’t come into work, so they could not (or would not) serve beer on tap, liquor cocktails, and more. They were out of wines on the menu, so the drinkers at the table were not amused. Our food took 45 minutes to arrive, and it came out. 1-2 dishes at a time. My son, who was the cause of the celebration, did not get his food until 30 minutes after the rest of the table. When we got the bill, they refused to take it off. The female owner was glaring at us, even though the server told us she forgot to turn his order into the kitchen. We found that out after the food came out, because during the 30 minutes of waiting on his dinner, they kept trying to tell us it was coming out any minute. They did bring him some premade, cold spring rolls while he waited. We told them in advance how to break up the bill, but they brought it all as one. I wrote in the bill to show them how to correct it, and the server continued to argue with me. When the owner would not take the 30 minute late meal off the bill after 20 minutes of arguing, we had to just pay it and leave. I am posting this not because there is false advertising going on, sugar ants on the table, basic water not being provided in a reasonable time frame, white sauce out of a bottle, poor service, mistakes made, but because the owner believes she can treat locals with disrespect and dishonesty because she is in front of a hotel. So, I am hoping others celebrating special occasions don’t have their evening ruined. I am hoping those with limited resources do not rate them here. I am hoping her staff moved to a place they are supported by the owner and not left to flap...
Read moreTheir Thai Orchid is my favorite restaurant but it’s not very convenient to E. Asheville. Imagine my delight to discover a new Suwana Asian Cuisine on Tunnel Road across from my credit union. With free parking and comfortable booths!
My son and I ate there during a very happy Thanksgiving visit. We loved every Thai dish and appetizer we ordered. Thai ice tea was lovely and indulgent. Basil and garlic is sheer heaven. Their fresh rolls are divine. They’re really good at toning down the spice. I like a 1 or 2, my son a 3. Their pad Thai is the best I’ve ever had. The Thai Steak salad is a work of art and the dressing (ask for it on the side— is so good!)
There was a large party wearing full Christmas gear there for lunch. It’sa good size place and some of the booths are more private. Tip big these people deserve it.
I went back to try hibachi chicken and steak and was satisfied with the meal but missed the spice. It was bland. (I bet kids might enjoy it.) The onion and mushroom soup was wonderful. For $20 it’s a full meal. I recently tried the Pineapple fried rice and was shocked how delicious it was, my friend who’s lived in Hong Kong said it’s the best she’s ever had. Green curry is amazing!!
Thanks for this new location!

Read moreWe decided to stop here for dinner. We had been to the previous restaurant that was there but hadn't tried this place yet. We were very impressed. The hostess was very welcoming. We got sat at a booth and had time to look over the menu. Then the gentleman came over to get our drink order. We got sweet tea and water. They were served in nice glassware and the tea was great. We ended up ordering the yellow curry and the hibachi chicken. Both were great. I had gotten a salad with my hibachi. I didn't ask about dressings and it was brought out with ginger on it. Which I do not care for. I had then asked the lady providing refills for some ranch if they had it. She spoke with our waiter who then came over and asked what I didn't like. I told him I wasn't aware of the ginger and I'm not a fan of it. He then told me other options, I chose one and he picked up my salad and proceeded to make me a whole new one. Which was very nice. He could have just brought me some sauce out and called it that. Once I had my new salad it was very good. Then our meals came out. My husband had the yellow chicken curry and mine was the hibachi chicken. They were both great. We really wanted to get some sushi but our appetites were not big at the time. But we will definitely be back to get some, as well as try some...
