Usually a 'middle of the road' Wendys, but tolerable. Unfortunately, today the dining room was locked at 6:30 pm, and because of rain, it was a hassle. Observing the very long drive through Que, I returned an hour later. Unfortunately, it was still long, but my wife and I trudged ahead. You could tell the manager was overwhelmed because we waited longer to be acknowledged, then he asked me to clarify a very simple order twice. Ten minutes later, I pulled up to the window, and a woman ran in front of my car. Suddenly hands were extended through the window telling me to stop. Apparently, the woman was picking up a take out order and because the dining room was closed, she was told to run in front of my car and pick up at the window, which for the very danger described is illegal. When I pulled up for my order, I asked the manager why his dining room was closed when it was supposed to be open. Then, with an obvious belligerent tone, he lectured that he only had two employees with him at the time. So, OK, I got it. But his action still created the scenario for a customer to risk being hit by a car, there was zero notification of the closed dining room, and this customer got attitude besides. I then responded that he shouldn't be snarky with his replies. Then he asked me to repeat what I had said, which was the same gimmick he used when I asked why the dining room was closed. I then repeated what I said, and he replied it wasn't his intention to convey belligerence. But you could tell he was angry, and for the life of me, I didn't know how any of it was my fault, when all I wanted was a salad, and a baked potato. I fully understand that staff often don't appear on Friday nights, which explains why blame cannot be affixed to the manager. But if the Wendys chain advertises an open dining room that keeps people from risking their lives retrieving a take out order, then someone has to...
Read moreI received some incredible service and neighborliness just now at this Wendys.
I had an issue with a past order and just came thru the drive thru to try and get it resolved... and being a server in a restaurant I totally understand mistakes do happen and they have nothing to do with a person or who they are or how much they care... they just happen. Fact of life. But I had difficulty getting someone on the phone to talk about it.
This shining soul greeted me at the drive thru and with no reserve, listened to my situation and made it her perogative to find a solution. I wasn't looking for a freebee or anything, just the missing item from my last order, and she straight up gave me a full meal for free with no hesitation. It felt so good to have someone care so much so quickly, in a time where it's really hard to be seen and to just have issues resolved when they happen. It's frustrating being a consumer these days, as we all have to be, and she didn't make me feel bad about it at all. She made me feel like I was taken care of, and like I was a neighbor and a fellow human just being looked after by another fellow human... it was really nice and refreshing in these times.
I want to highlight what a great encounter this was to whomever reads this, hopefully someone from management. She was a young woman with red hair pulled back, working the late shift around 1am Wendesday morning 9/17. Please know you have a gem working for you and that people see it. It wasn't just about the resolution, it was about the ease, the grace, the kindness and the neighborliness. And about finding a common thread in that moment, in a world that wants to divide more and more. Please update your notes and promote and give this person a...
Read moreI ordered online, & paid online, for my nephew, & I. I was going through the drive thru, & waited 5-15 minutes per car in front of me, & there was 4. I get to the speaker, & I was greeted by a guy, but didn't understand what he said. So, I just simply said, "I have a mobile order." The guy started screaming, very rudely, over the speaker, "I am short handed, & I'll be with you when I can!!" I was being very patient, & talking calmly. I already figured they were short handed, because I had already waited 30 minutes to tell him I had a mobile order. After he screamed at me over the speaker, like I was trash, I canceled my order, & drove off, with my nephew, (who is a super picky eater, that decided he would eat some Wendy's chicken nuggets, & fries, yesterday.), I personally will never dine at that Wendy's again. If someone can't handle a little rush, regardless if you're short handed, or not, shouldn't be working in customer service. He was extremely rude, & obviously can't handle working in fast food, without lashing out at customers. I had a mobile order, he could've easily just said, pull to the window, then figured it out when he was done doing whatever he was doing. I went out of my way to go to Wendy's, & had to leave with nothing, because an employee with anger issues, that can't handle his job at a fast food restaurant. I've worked in fast food several times, & I have never spoke to anyone the way he spoke to me. I would've never er let the punk get my food together after that, for fear of him contaminating my food, on purpose, because he was so out of control. It's just very shocking. He's doing negative things for the company, & shouldn't be allowed to work in customer service anywhere. "Food...
