Let me start this review by saying that Longhorn is one of our favorite steakhouse chains. We almost always have great experiences at Longhorn. We have only eaten at this particular location (Ashland KY) twice. This is the only location we’ve had problems. On this occasion we took our 17 year old son out for dinner for his birthday. We all ordered our steaks medium. I got the ribeye, my wife got the filet with lobster tail and my son got the New York strip. We got an appetizer and the waitress brought it quickly. We enjoyed that and waited for our steaks. And waited. And waited some more. Just when I thought maybe we had been forgotten they finally brought our plates out. We were amazed at how over cooked our steaks were. These were beyond well done. They were probably a few minutes away from being able to be labeled as beef jerky. We don’t normally complain at restaurants and certainly never send anything back, I’ve heard too many stories about what cooks do to food that gets sent back (not taking any chances). So when we get undercooked or overcooked food (it happens, not a big deal) we normally just eat it anyway if it’s edible, we prefer medium but medium rare or medium well will not get a complaint from us. But these steaks were so done there was no juices in them at all. The waitress came by and ask how is everything and my wife explained the problem and showed her the steaks. She was sympathetic after seeing the grey leather on my wife and son’s plate and said they would grill them up two new steaks, she offered for me too but I declined and started the chewing process on my dehydrated ribeye (again I don’t want anyone cooking my food a second time, there are too many passive aggressive people out there). So their new steaks come out, my son’s New York strip was perfect this time. My wife’s filet was nuked again. The waitress had her cut it while she was there to see how it was and it was like that turkey on the Christmas Vacation movie. My wife never even said anything, the waitress just said let me get the manager, that’s how bad it was. The manager comes out and he did not impress. He offered to grill a third steak but the damage was done. He looked at my wife’s steak, I think he wanted to say it wasn’t over but after he looked it he realized there was no arguing that. They did end up comping my wife’s meal but really my son’s birthday dinner was ruined for all 3 of us. The only high spot was the waitress. We left her a good tip because this wasn’t her fault. That’s 2 strikes for the Ashland location for us. There won’t be a third. We are done here. There is a Longhorn location just a bit further up the road from us in Barboursville WV that has never let us down. I just messed up trying to save a few minutes...
Read moreThe worst service I have ever received. We were seated right away. Our waiter didn’t acknowledge our presence for a good 15 minutes +. By that time, we were able to place not only our beverage order but appetizer and main course, all at once. We requested no ice in our soda. We received ice. Requested ranch dipping sauce, at time of order, for tonion appetizer dipping sauce. We received what comes with it. By the time I saw waiter again to request ranch, tonion was luke warm. Finally received bread, after I received ranch dip. At time of order, I requested extra ranch for salad, didn’t receive it until main dish came out. I ordered a burger, no burger sauce but add mayo, well done. I received a med well burger that had 3/4” sliced onion, 10 pickles, and enough lettuce for a great dinner, if I were a rabbit. After flagging down our server, whom did not stop by our table unless we called out or flagged him down, he said it was probably the lighting but took burger to be remade. Well, by the time the burger came, it was with the burger sauce, not without and not given mayo. I asked for a to go box since my husband has already finished his salad, steak and baked potato. That was a good 10 minute wait for a to go box. Needless to say, for the first time in years, I did not leave a tip. We are usually very generous tippers. We felt invisible and uncomfortable. But hey, on his way past, Dylan, dropped off the check without even looking at us, pretty much the way the last 1-1/2 hours had been anyways, but was quick to come back and take our payment. I can’t really rate the food because I barely got to eat anything I ordered. Very dissatisfied and disappointed. Too upset over the whole experience and gave the burger and fries to a family member. $67+ for a couple bites of salad, a couple bites of appetizer and 3...
Read moreOur family went to eat a good meal. Passed several steak places. Decided to pull into Longhorns.
We were greeted immediately and given our table within 2 minutes.
Our server was a lady named Shannon L. She introduced herself and took our drink orders. She swifty returned with our drinks. Then she says that she isn't rushing us and will not ignore us because she had a large group due to come in soon.
This peaked my curiosity.
Soon, our orders were placed while that same group was seated at a table right next to us. This was potentially going to be a problem for our server. I knew this was only going in either going one of 2 directions.I watched her in action.
As if this was nothing, she glided between our table, the large group's table, and the kitchen. I heard lots of demands and a few changes in choices from the large group.
Our server never missed a beat. With a smile on her face, she made sure everyone was satisfied.
I myself came to the realization that we had just witnessed a true professional at work. Skills and techniques that few others will ever have. Grace and balance made it all seem easy to the common observer. The truth is that in these days, very few are willing to master their craft.
Shannan L. has mastered her job. She was truly a pleasure to have serving us. In my opinion, she would make a heck of a corporate trainer.
Our food was excellent, but Shannan shined even brighter. She really knocked it out of the park.
Next time we visit this location, we will ask for her. I would gladly wait for a table in her area to open up.
You...
