as someone who’s been coming here for a few years every couple months today was the worst experience and I’m speaking as someone who is also a server in a diner. The lady who waiting on us and was the only one there goes by the name of Becky. She came and dropped silverware off to our table of four and one of the people in our party said he needed plastic silverware I’m guessing she didn’t hear him. She took our orders and brought our drinks in which two of them were wrong and were supposed to be cokes but brought out water which made no sense since she brought out the other persons coke. She didn’t give us straw so we decided to wait then she brought us our straws and waffles even an extra waffle as we only ordered 3 and received four(she still added the fourth to our check) the waffles were also cold we still had not received the plastic utensils for our one person who ordered two of those three waffles and didn’t bring us any butter when we asked. So one of the guys went up to the counter since we waited 10 minutes and asked for butter and utensils we still didn’t mind waiting we were just hungry UNTIL Ms Becky turned around and yelled that “maybe if she had three extra hands she could give us butter but she doesn’t and she’s busy” there were only two other tables in the restaurant and if she gets so overwhelmed she should not be a server much less a manager coming from someone who works by themselves double shifts and never has done that. Me and one other person got up and left as we still never received the rest of our food and didn’t want to cause a scene. Then I later found out from the two men with us that she yelled at the one because he wanted plastic silverware and called him rude when she caught an attitude because she saw a table of young people come in I don’t know if she thought we wouldn’t tip and that’s why was mean from the start. And then she would not take off the young lady and I’s meal even though we left and never received any food except one waffle which I did not eat since it came out cold and all I wanted was butter. I’m saying this to say we didn’t mind waiting but I have never been yelled at by a server for asking them for butter which comes with waffles and the fact she messed up drinks brought us and rang us up for an extra waffle that we did not order and then not take of two meals that were never eaten or even brought to the table. As a business she’s the problem I will continue to come during morning shift hours as the servers and...

This was not a very clean establishment. The floors, table, syrup container, and the shelves were rather grimy. We had a waitress by the name of Breanna. I can only assume it was her mother as the cook because Breanna called her "momma". Nepotism isn't a way to succeed. It took Breanna a good 6-8 minutes to even greet us after we sat down. Keep in mind the building had one other patron who had already been served and we had 4 customers in my party. After we ordered, two of us were brought our drinks. One was Mr. Pibb and good Lord. It was basically fizzy water. She told us to try it anyway and if it was bad, she would get us a fresh one. The other was from a lemonade machine that had apparently been off the whole day.
The first half of us got our order. We didn't have it exactly to order, but oh well. Then the other half of us got their food but, still had to wait a good 3-5 minutes for coffee that was directly across the isle from us. She told us it took so long because she had to make a new batch, but clearly the machine hadn't been touched since we had been there. We had to wait another 2 minutes for the creamer she offered us and when she returned with it, she dumped a handful of it into a member of my party's hands. She never once came back to check on us. Only to deliver our tickets.
I suspect it took so long for her to do her job because she was obviously and quite terribly flirting with a customer sitting at the bar.
As we paid, she tried to make small talk but insisted on eating her McDonald's chicken nuggets and fries because she couldn't be bothered to eat Waffle...
Read moreWe were driving through Virginia on our way to Florida and decided to stop and use the restroom and to have some breakfast. We were extremely tired and exhausted.
The restroom was dirty, which I let one of the employees know. She said she would get to it when they had time. I'd like to note that she was sitting on of the stools near the cook, not working, but talking about the shenanigans from the night before.
We were seated and handed menus that were sticky. We ordered our food, and while we were waiting, the waitress was talking about customers from the night prior, not paying their bill, and that she had to call the cops. While she was talking, one of my family members noticed the floor and prep area of the counter where the cook was making the food, which was dirty. Since we had already ordered, we decided to stay and eat what we ordered.
Once the food arrived, we were disappointed that the eggs were still raw in some spots of the scrambled eggs, the bacon was charred and inedible, and my waffle had a hair baked into it. We didn't eat much and spent $115 on the bill. Overall, we ended up having to stop at the next exit so that all 8 of us could use the restroom, which had to do with the food.
This was our first time at a Waffle House and one of our worst experiences dining out. We do not recommend eating at Waffle House in Ashland, Virginia - which the waitress told us is the center of the universe. Avoid this Waffle...
