Amazing visit. We’ve meant to try some of the new Harbor eateries for over a year and finally checked Halcyon off our list. Do not let the unassuming store front and laid back decor fool you. The restaurant is very attractive inside, using the existing old building to enhance the space. The menu ranges from family friendly—->bar fare—->surprisingly sophisticated entrees. Absolutely worth the trip east, Lake County and beyond folks! Our server, Adrianna, did a fantastic job taking care of us. The restaurant was busy, and the added fun of rain driving in the patio made for a hectic bit, but she was very attentive. We started with the Poutine, adding fresh jalapeño and chorizo. Absolutely amazing combo and our love of heat was not disappointed. Our entrees were the Pork Shank and the Chef Special, Braised Lamb Shank. Both came with a risotto; Parmesan and mushroom respectively. Both meats were perfectly prepared and delicious. The risottos were delightful and not heavy. The pork shank was paired with asparagus and it was great. Lamb shank definitely would have benefited from a vegetable, but the portion was large so it wasn’t missed. We took home dessert, didn’t want to miss a chance to try new things. We took home the chocolate lava cake and the Oreo pie. Both we wonderful, definitely good with a cup of coffee.

We just went for a cocktail. Awesome seating with the outdoor open space between the brick buildings. We got a blackberry mojito, holy water, cherry whip, spicy margarita...Great prices on the cocktails. We ate the Brussels Caesar salad (too many croutons) and a side of mac-n-cheese...delicious! All burgers can sub an IMPOSSIBLE burger (so tasty)! The mozzarella sticks were fat and wonderful (hard to go wrong here, but better than your average mozzarella sticks) Service is always in point. Appetizer selection is fairly limited. I like when they offer specials. I would love to see some seasonal menu changes to add variety!!!

We stopped in around 2:30 on a weekend. The place seemed a bit busy, but we were seated before too long. Our waitress was also the bartender, but thankfully, we seemed to be her only other table. We were seated with no menu, no drink menu, and had to wait for her to show up to ask. After we received the menus, we decided on an appetizer to share before we ordered our food, but again waited for her to return, so we changed our minds and simply ordered our meals. The food was great, my steak on my steak salad was cooked perfectly and was a good cut of meat. His Cajun pasta was also delicious.

Our first trip here delightfully surprised us in all of the best ways! We found the staff to be super personable and friendly, the environment modern enough yet still very cozy and historic, and above all, the food to be absolutely incredible (and very reasonably priced)!

We shared the Brussel sprout Caesar salad and by letting our server know we wanted to share that as an appetizer the kitchen prepared two (extremely generous) plates. The Brussel sprout shavings were crisp and perfectly seasoned, which complimented the fresh field greens and other toppings. The dressing, served on the side (always appreciated) was impeccable.

The cocktail menu, while not high-end craft, provided a flavor profile for everyone. The champagne and cranberry cocktail was a generous portion and perfectly mixed. The beer on tap was exquisite and unique - a draft from California that blurred the lines between a citrus IPA but with the smoothness and mild sweetness of a Belgian or lager.

We both ordered burgers - one of which we did up as a Impossible burger. They were EXCEPTIONAL. I've tried a lot of burger places, including craft burger joints, and these two smash burgers were the best. The seasonings, the perfect grilling and presentation and toppings made this a mouth watering experience that we cannot stop thinking about. The thick cut fresh fries were out of this world and served with malt vinegar on the side (pro move!). We also upgraded one of our sides to the Mac and cheese and it was out of this world. A generous portion with enough to bring home and a velvety, rich, flavorful sauce that stuck to the perfectly cooked spiral noodles.

We cannot recommend this little establishment enough! The vibe, menu lineup, and offerings are some of the best around short of going to Cleveland or Pittsburgh. The proximity to the harbor and beach are also a plus. Don't second guess yourself --...

Not sure where to begin! 1.) Atmosphere: A table of 6 lovely ladies were enjoying the evening together.. Every time laughter breaks out, the sound was deafening! It actually hurt our ears!!!! One couple got up & left!!! It’s not the girls that was the issue it was the restaurant’s fault!!! All they need to do is what most high ceiling venues do, INSTALL SOUND PROTECTIVE DRAPING!! It cuts the sound level very effectively! 2.) Being BUSY, IS NOT AN EXCUSE!!! 3.) Who ever heard of serving ReFried French Fries!!! I LOVE refried beans but I’ve never heard of refried French fries! Any bar in any corner of the USA knows how to make great fries!! Those are FRESH French Fries!! The ones I was served were either last night leftover fries which they refried!! I kept picking out ones I thought might be ok, NOT ON MY PLATE!, not one could be found. 4.) Hold the chicken FAT!!! The wife had a salad with grilled chicken which was on a huge mound of LETTUCE. The chicken pieces were was very fatty! 5.) Our waitress was very accommodating & kind and she offered a discount which I wasn’t looking for. We still provided our regular 25% tip. What we wanted, what we have known in the past was, Fresh Ingredients with a flare of flavor that Harbor Halcyon had always provided! We would have paid more if that meant we’d get a fresh, flavorful meal. It wasn’t our waitress’ fault, it wasn’t the 6 lovely ladies either… 6.) Harbor Halcyon is better than this!! Fix It, PLEASE 🙏!!! And it wasn’t because it was a...
