I liked this DD. Up until recently, it was my favorite location to visit, mainly because they have a drive-thru, but also because it's convenient to get to. But now, it's slipped way, way down, and I won't be going back.
It had some problems in the past. The staff was...not high quality. They mumbled through the drive-thru speaker, had trouble understanding food orders, and kept the mic on so you could hear them talking to their co-workers through the drive-thru speaker. But that slowly changed. They hired new people, part of which is probably because they started serving Baskin Robbins ice cream.
Okay, so a couple of times, I couldn't get through the drive-thru because they were doing renovations. That was temporary, though, and I won't hold that against them.
Now that they're selling ice cream, they have a lot more teenagers in the place, which makes it a little noisier than usual (plus, they've got the music cranked inside). Sometimes, when I need a little catch-up time on a deadline, I like to sit inside and sip a coffee, maybe munch on a bagel, and work on some of my writing projects. Okay...I can listen to my MP3 and tune out the crap music and the unnecessary chatter of teenagers. No problem.
A few weeks ago, my wife went through the drive-thru and ordered a decaf coffee. They give her regular. She didn't know this until she couldn't get to sleep until 2AM. Okay, I can forgive that (and she can, too). It's just a mistake; someone grabbed the wrong pot or the wrong cup. Whatever.
Today (June 22, 2014), I go in to do some writing. I order a coffee and a bagel (like usual). The cute blonde with the pony-tail and the nose stud takes my order (again, like usual). Her co-worker is busy filling up a tray of cups for a drive-thru order. He uses the last of the coffee...which is weird to me because why would Dunkin Donuts not have coffee constantly brewing? The two things they should never run out of is donuts and coffee. Right? When it starts running low, you put another pot on. Am I right?
Anyway, the coffee is out and cute blonde still has my order to fill. What does she do? Does she tell me, “I'm sorry, sir, it'll be a few minutes while I brew a fresh pot.”?
Nope. Instead, she grabs the pot of decaf and fills my cup.
I heard her co-worker say something to her about it. I'm standing there, waiting for her to say something to me. Does she? Does she own up to it? Does she ask me if I want the decaf rather than waiting for more coffee to be made?
Nope again. She hands me the cup like it's regular coffee. And this is after I had already donated sixty cents to their tip cup, by the way.
Folks, I'm not a caffeine fanatic. I didn't need the boost to fend off a headache or wake myself up. I just prefer the taste of regular coffee. Decaf, to me, has a metallic aftertaste that I don't particularly like.
I made my way to my table and ate my bagel, did a little bit of work on my novel, and sipped the decaf coffee she gave me. I made eye contact a couple of times, waiting for her to own up to it, maybe come over and offer me a free refill of regular...something... But nope. Nothing.
I can deal with renovations. I can deal with people making honest mistakes. One thing I can't deal with: a salesclerk knowingly giving me the wrong thing because she doesn't want to ask me to wait a few minutes. What she did was dishonest, and makes her a liar.
So screw this particular DD. There are many, many others in this area. If I have to drive a little farther to get my coffee and bagel, I will. I don't buy...
Read moreI recently visited my local Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin Robbins location at Aspen Hill Rd, MD and was blown away by the amazing service provided by Komal. She made my visit an absolute pleasure from start to finish.
Komal was incredibly friendly and welcoming, greeting me with a warm smile as soon as I entered the store. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and helped me to choose the perfect donut and ice cream flavor to suit my taste preferences.
Throughout my visit, Komal was attentive and responsive to my needs, checking in with me to make sure that everything was going well and that I was satisfied with my order. She also kept the store clean and tidy, ensuring that all surfaces were wiped down and free from spills and messes.
What really stood out to me, however, was Komal’s commitment to customer satisfaction. She went above and beyond to make sure that I was happy with my order, even offering to make adjustments or substitutions if I wasn't completely satisfied.
Overall, I would highly recommend this Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin Robbins location, and in particular, Komal, to anyone looking for great food and excellent service. She truly made my visit an exceptional experience, and I can't wait to come back and visit again. Thank you, Komal, for being such an...
Read moreThe Drive Thru is the best feature here, I would suggest to just stick to it please. Coming inside and have a breakfast inside is very uncomfortable not because the place is a mess, not at all inside is nice what makes it uncomfortable is the supervisor or shift lead they have. I have come many times and almost every time is always this person that start talking and telling all the other employees about the things they need to do, but it is so disrespectful I have witnessed many other patrons being uncomfortable. The last time I went there our drinks were not done correctly and i requested to either being rectified or a credit back since it was already paid, one of the employees tried to fix the beverage but this “supervisor” just yell at the employee and she will take care of that and she told me that I should order the right thing….I did order through the kiosk so I knew what i ordered, after that one of the employees had enough and they start arguing on front of everybody, the employee said to her she needs to chill and everyone is busy…I was totally agreed with that employee. That supervisor needs to either get re-trained or go to some classes to learn how to relax and manage people in a better and...
