We've lived in Aston four years, and didn't even realize this place existed. My wife and I were excited to take our 21 month old son to his first ice cream parlor. We arrived at 8:48pm, and I immediately asked what time they close (so I'd know whether or not we'd have to hurry things up). 9pm was the answer, from the two teenage girls working the counter. So we ordered up a sampler dish which they promptly prepared in a Styrofoam container, and placed in a paper bag. I dropped a buck in the tip jar, as I normally would, and we proceeded to sit down to enjoy our ice cream. My son was ecstatic. But not even before I finished handing out the plastic spoons, we hear, "we're closed." I looked at my phone and watch-- both said 8:53. I couldn't believe it. No apology, and they didn't even look me in the rue when they said it. They just shouted it from across the room. I COULDN'T BELIEVE I LEFT A TIP! The two girls immediately turned the lights off, and headed for the door. So we went outside to sit on the bench, to enjoy our ice cream in the now 55 degree cold outside. But as I got the ice cream out of the bag, I realized NO NAPKINS! By this time, both of those girls were already in their cars, getting ready to pull away. They were in such a rush, they even forgot to flip the "OPEN" sign around on the storefront.
Long story long, the ice cream was fantastic-- I'm not gonna lie. But it'll be a cold day in hell before I ever set a foot in that door again, or recommend it to anyone.
It's a real shame, because I really enjoy supporting local businesses. But now, I guess Dairy Queen and Bruster's are our go-to options.
I welcome any dialog from the owners of this establishment, should they wish to reach out to me. If it were my business, I certainly wouldn't stand for this kind of representation by my...
Read moreIn a location where you have Rita's, DQ, and Brusters all within walking distance of each other, you'll still want to pick this place. My husband and I lived in the apartments across the street for the summer and made a near-weekly trips here, we loved it so much. From the old-school ice cream parlor smell when you first walk in, the friendly staff, and all of the amazing flavors (they even have teaberry sometimes, which is polarizing but I love it so I was happy to see it! Also the seasonal fig honey walnut is outstanding) you're missing out if you pick one of the corporate places over this charming mom-and-pop shop. We're going to miss our weekly ice cream dates now that we've moved, but we're not so far we can't stop back in...
Read moreNow THIS is an ice cream shop. I stopped in yesterday afternoon with my mom and was blown away by the smell, the wonderful service, the cleanliness and the delicious homemade ice cream. They offered a plethora of flavors and even multiple vegan ice cream choices :)
Every time I see people looking for ice cream recommendations in the area, on social media, Just Homemade is the most recommended spot. I see why. We walked out with a few pints and cups to share with our family.
I could go on and on explaining why this should be your preferred ice cream destination but Iâll just leave it at-if youâre near the Aston/Media area, donât go anywhere else for your favorite...
