I have been here multiple times over the last couple of years and never had anything bad to say. Ever..but saying that.. tonight my wife and i went in at 9:30pm knowing that they closed at 10. At walking into the restaurant there were still at least 12 or 13 tables still full and 1 big party in the party room. So we were not the only people there. We sat down and waited for our waiter which took a little longer than usual. We were seated for around 10 minutes before chips and the salsa came out. The waiter informed us that they were out of charro beans that they put on the table for dipping with the chips and salsa..No big deal. He got our drink order and asked if we would like a appetizer.. i replied the queso flameado , with carne molida (taco meat )and chorizo mix . That took 15 minutes before it came out .. at about 10 minutes in to waiting for that he came by and asked us what we would like to order. My wife ordered the nico and i ordered the tex mex pick 4, the nico comes With one cheese enchilada 1 tamale w/ancho sauce and 1 beef Taco And rice and beans. My dinner I picked 2 crispy tacos with With taco meat 1 braised beef enchilada w/and one chalupa with taco meat and rice and beans. I have attached the menu so that you can see what comes on it. So the waiter leaves and is gone until the appetizer comes out and then he informs us that they are out of tamales also along with the beans. So my wife changes her order to the pick 3, with 1 braised beef enchilada, 1 cheese enchilada and 1 taco meat puffy taco..at this point we were agitated but was understanding since it was after 930pm. After another 10 minutes go by the manager comes over and says that they are out of taco meat and that he will substitute beef, chicken fajitas , chorizo, braised beef any of those no extra charge. We choose beef fajita for both plates. Now its about 10:10 and they bring out the food.. I really wish i had taken a picture but i was seriously just a little stunned and frustrated. Both of our plates were cold , the cheese inside the enchiladas was not even melted , oh did i forget to mention that we did not get any braised beef enchiladas we got plain cheese, they were supposed to have fresh white onions on top..nope.. ohhhhh and they also ran out of rice so there was no rice on the plates. The refried beans were ice cold. My wife's puffy taco that was supposed to be taco meat but since they were out we had substituted beef fajita at no extra charge came out as chicken. Lolol..now you are probably saying what a mess .. after eating what we could of the meal we asked for the check , approximately $ 49.50..we were like seriously taken aback by this .. they had even upcharged for the fajita beef meat in the puffy taco.. the beef fajita that was changed to chicken by the kitchen , it was actually listed that way if you can believe it.. so we requested the manager to come back over.. and after explaining AGAIN what had happened he felt so bad he comped the 2 dinners , which is not what we really wanted. We just could not believe that they had upcharged us and wanted that fixed but i think since it was so late he really didnt want to go over it., as i said he comped the 2 dinners but not the appetizer or the soda .. as it was now after 1030 pm, we were both really too tired to argue about anything..so we paid and tipped the poor waiter , as none of this was really his fault and left.. ughhhhh.. we will not be going back anytime near closing ever again..and to be real it has thrown us off going at all for a while.. Avoid late night dinners there.. Just want to mention that i was asked to reply to the comment by someone from Lupe tortilla and that they wanted to discuss the review with me. I did what they asked and i still havent heard from them.. i wont be going back to the...
Read moreI have been coming to this Humble location for YEARS, each time no less than $150 (& went to other locations, i.e. Blalock, Richey or Hwy 6, prior to the Humble location being built yrs ago)! Food is pricey, but delicious & well worth the money. Sad to say, the customer svc at this Humble location is going dwn. I called tdy trying to place my usual order (that's been saved for many yrs as I always order the same for my family) & was told by the first person that he could see my prior order but for some reason, it would not allow him to hit "reorder". The man told me he was very busy (which I completely understand) & after him unsuccessfully trying a few min, I said, "No problem" I'll call bk in 5 min to place my curbside order. I called bk & spoke to one of the mgrs, Vivian, who politely explained that for some reason my order was deleted. Ok. No problem. She then transferred me to someone to place my order. At the end of my order, the gentleman asked me for my card & I explained that I do not like giving out my card number over the phone & so EVERYTIME since the beginning of COVID last yr, I pay when I arrive. I only live 5 min away & usually the order takes 30min-1hr before it's ready. The to-go server said he understood but he could not submit it to the kitchen until I arrived & it would have to be approved by a mgr. I had heard that once when everything 1st went into lockdown last yr due to COVID but the mgr at that time explained it was apparent that I order regularly & that my concern over giving out my card info on the phone was understood. So tdy, the to-go server puts mgr Carlos on the phone, who had a "couldn't care less" attitude & a very dry response. It quickly became apparent how little my patronage was valued here. I was shocked when Carlos advised me at the end of our 5 min convo, that he is the GM!!! He even told me if the to-go server wants to "pay for" my meal himself, that the server is welcome to do so if he's familiar with me. WTH?!?! As I replied to Carlos, that's outright RIDICULOUS & absurd to even put such a liability on a staff member & that as a mgr, Carlos could absolutely allow my order to be submitted so that I don't have to park for almost an hr to wait on my food. Again, no attempt was made at problem resolution, Carlos then replied this was his restaurant & those were his rules. If this is indicative of the GM's problem resolution skills & he's content with losing a loyal customer who always spends a great deal of money, he needs addtl training as he is supposed to be the example for the remainder of the staff & good management also means business RETENTION!!! I REFUSE TO GIVE ANYMORE OF MY BUSINESS HERE NOR WILL I CONTINUE TO REFER/BRING MY FRIENDS, CO-WORKERS/BUSINESS PROSPECTS NOR FAMILY!!! As I explained to Carlos, this is NOT a fast food place & as such, Lupe Tortilla is expected to have higher standards incl but not limited to...
Read moreThis was my first time trying Lupe Tortilla and I decided to try the breakfast and I must say I was not impressed at all and extremely disappointed. First off the ordering process over the phone for a take out order was not smooth, it started off great with a lady named Tara who was super sweet and very knowledgeable and she transferred me over to the To-go line and the phone just stayed on hold for quite some time and then the call dropped and I had to call back again but then the lady seemed to struggle understanding what I wanted which was a simple order just the Breakfast Tacos plate and Tara said I could mixup the (2) tacos if I wanted as I wanted a bacon taco and the jalapeno sausage taco but then the To-go lady was like no you can't do that and then explained a difficult way of how she would have to do it so I said forget it just do two bacon tacos then she says well they can do 2 bacon and 1 jalapeno because it comes with (3) tacos even though online it says (2) tacos but I was like ok fine but then she's like is that what you want I'm like yes mam I've said that multiple times now but she seemed extremely confused and maybe it's her first day not sure but obviously she needs more training as she and the first lady Tara I spoke with are not on the same page and staff need to be not only knowledgeable but need to be on the same page regarding the menu as that's basic 101. So I finally go and get my order and then I go home to eat it hoping the ordering hassle made it worth it and unfortunately I was disappointed again, the tortillas for the tacos themselves were extremely thin like a tortilla chip and yes they had plenty of egg and bacon but the tacos were falling apart because they're too thin of a tortilla so this was not what I expected as far as the tortillas itself..Next it was only (2) tacos even though the takeout lady said there would be (3) but no big deal, next the side potatoes were dry and flavorless and tasted old as they had been sitting around for quite some time. Lastly the queso was also disappointing as it tasted very salty and also very runny not like a nice thick queso.. The only thing that was good was the chips and salsa that came with it the salsa was really good actually and I'd recommend it for that only and that's the only reason I'm even giving it 2 stars but otherwise besides that extremely disappointing and do not see me returning in the future.. This was definitely not what I expected for a good Mexican...
