I really want to give this beautiful little hotel a 4 star rating.
THE GOOD First off special shout out to Denise who checked us in. She was simply amazing and we had to stop at the desk and tell her just that. She knew I was driving 4 hours to see my wife who's in houston taking care of her mother for a couple weeks. Denise made sure my wife had no issues getting checked in and was very informative of the amenities. Denise also forewarned us there was a wedding party going at the pool with music. Not sure how long it went on but they were not a bother to us. They weren't too noisy and there wasn't kids running the halls even though there were plenty there. From the outside the grounds looks well kept and the parking and walkways were clean and inviting. Once you walk in the same theme continues. The decor is modern, clean and smells fresh. Walking through the lobby you can tell the hallway is clean all the lights were working. Our room smelled fresh and clean and the linen smelled fresh and looked clean. I checked both beds for any critter activity and mattresses showed no signs. We slept very comfortably as well. The next day breakfast was presented very well also.
THE BAD Once you looked around you can see some details have been missed due to all the usual suspects. Staffing, budget, and training has fallen a little short here I'm sure just like all the rest of the country which is why I'm not freaking out. There were what looked to be cigarette holes in the linen but I believe it was regular breakdown since this is a non smoking facility. There is what we call DISCOLORATION in the hospitality industry along the base of the tub. Also discoloration along the tub and tile area as well. Looks like humidity has gotten inside the artwork and is starting to build discoloration as well. Although it's minor the lamp harp was broken causing the shade to lean and the bas is starting to rust. When I looked out the window to the pool the usage was pretty high so the turbidity was extreme. both days even after sitting unused for several hours I still couldn't see the drain covers. The hot tub was literally green and should have been drained.
Since I have a background managing hotels for 20 years I know this is just slippage because this place does everything else right. The not so good things can easily be fixed in a day so no worries there. I will definitely be back when visiting family and I'm sure things will be improved here. If so I'll be updating my review to...
Read moreMy husband and I prefer to stay at La Quinta's when we travel because we can have our cat free of charge. They're also usually nice hotels and this wasn't an exception. The room was clean when we stayed and we were able to get good rest in the bed. However, we did find a long black hair in the bed and we figured it could have been from a housekeeper when she was making the bed so we weren't too upset about it. Any girl knows what it is to have long hair and it falls out sometimes. The swimming pool had nice hours and was outside but because of my husband's work, we were only able to swim at night. The water was warm, as usual, but it was so cold outside compared to the wind blowing that it was difficult to stay warm so we didn't swim for too long. But, it was enjoyable and we do like the saltwater better than the chlorine. The thing that makes me give three stars instead of four is the breakfast. We were at this hotel for five days, I believe, and we had breakfast everyday. But it was not very good. The eggs were egg substitute which isn't bad, sometimes they can be made good. But these eggs were so watery. It was more like eating mashed potatoes. The texture was just all wrong. There wasn't much else on the menu that we could enjoy as we don't eat pork and that was in the gravy as well. We found ourselves limited to cereal and oranges, which was nice to have in the morning, better than nothing, but not exactly filling. Overall, it wasn't a bad stay and we were able to enjoy the stay. The shower is absolutely fantastic and we did enjoy it. One other thing that was a bit of a disappointment was the smell in the hallway. Every time you came into the hall leading to the rooms, it smelled like mildew. I found myself wondering if the carpets had water damage at some point because the smell was so strong. It seems like a newly established hotel and it's sad that the carpets smell so badly in a new hotel. The rooms were a touch better but we did notice a smell in the room as well. Thankfully, it went away after a short time. Again, it was a pleasant stay with a few disappointments. I'm sure we would stay again although maybe skip the breakfast and make our own egg substitute in our room. Our cat loved the...
Read moreThis location is a bit scandalous & has plenty of rude & extremely unprofessional staff members. Especially the breakfast staff. I got yelled at for mixing cinnamon & vanilla extract in my waffles. The woman stated that me doing that is why the iron is always sticky & hard to clean but that literally makes no sense. I use REAL vanilla extract & itâs made with alcohol if youâre educated youâd know that. On top of that I met an older woman during breakfast who said that she uses the BUTTER provided for the toast on the iron & that she doesnât care because it makes the waffles fluffier or softer , one of the two. I told her about the spray & she said it wasnât the same. Not my problem but if youâre going to attempt to scold paying customers at least direct your anger at the correct person.
Front desk likes to lie about availability to be able to pick & choose who to rent to. We got refused service because my child had an accident on the pull out sofa.
Additionally I have very high value designer items & I was reported to the front desk by the maids for not leaving the room entirely so they could â cleanâ the room. Another time my toddler had to use the restroom & while we sat in the stairway I sent him to the room to pee & come back. As you guessed it, we got reported to the front desk & the woman came all the way to the top floor to keep us from going in the room. Ridiculous ! Hide your valuables!!
The hot tub doesnât turn on after a certain time. Iâm assuming itâs to keep people from staying late which we never did so hours prior to closing the jets are intentionally cut off for whatever reason. They work fine during...
