We drove 40 minutes to enjoy hibachi here at 1:30 on a Sunday afternoon. We arrived, there were 7 people other than our table actually sat in the restaurant and a party of 6 at the host stand. 2 of the 7 people sat, were already at a hibachi table being cooked for, 2 at a different hibachi whom had just paid their bill and were leaving and the remaining 3 (2 adults and a highchair) sat at a table waiting to order. My party (2) were sat with the couple and their baby. I share all of this detail so you can accurately understand the layout. They then proceeded to seat the other 6 people from the host stand with our table. That's 11 individuals squeezed in shoulder to shoulder when they only had one other hibachi table in the works. We along with the couple and their baby all insisted it was to crammed and this was to much. They pretty much shrugged their shoulders. Needless to say we cancelled our drinks from the bar gathered our belongings and left. What a waste of an hour of our time. I suggest everyone to drive the extra 15 minutes and go to Asian City for a world class dining experience where you can enjoy your meal comfortably.
To management: It's a Sunday. Most restaurants are busy on this day especially after church hours. I've worked in the industry ten years. Ask yourselves two questions. Why are there only two tables sat in my restaurant during these hours. Note: My competitors in humble have 45 min to 1 hr waits at this time of the day. What could we be doing wrong?
That first question makes me think the food must not be very appetizing given the lack of guests and taking in consideration the other couple at our table with the baby tried both Chili's and Lupe's (both had 40 min waits) before entering your...
Read moreI came to Shogun for a nice Hibachi dinner and got exactly the opposite. We were greeted with a 45 minute wait, but that's not too uncommon for a Friday night. When we were finally seated, we waited for an entire hour before the chef even started. By that time we were already upset, but we were hoping some good food could lift our spirits. We were wrong. The food was horrible and under cooked. The chicken was rubbery and distasteful. We were also treated completely unfairly because of our ages. Then to make up for their mistakes we were offered some more food, but by that time the original food had made us feel sick and we had been at the table for two and a half hours. All we wanted to do was leave so they offered us a ten percent discount. They brought our checks (we were all paying separately) and only one check had the discount. Also the tips were decided for us and we didn't even get a say in it which was completely unfair because we disagreed that they deserved tips at all. They finally brought the checks back and we got to leave after THREE HOURS. Nothing good came out of this experience and we will not be returning. I am extremely disappointed and frustrated. All in all, if you're looking for terrible food and terrible service then Shogun is a great place to get a meal. The only reason it got 1 star is because zero is...
Read moreWent for the lunch Hibachi special. Cons are it's a couple of bucks pricier than Happy Buddha, their fried rice doesn't have chicken and you don't get free ice tea. Pluses are the people are way way way nicer. Actually had an Asian guy prepare our food. He was really good and had great tricks that kept us entertained. He actually tossed a clump of rice into my mouth from a few feet away. They have 3 choices for steak. Regular, Ribeye ( that's what I got and it was amazing) for a buck more and filet for 3 bucks more. Their veggies are way better because they include broccoli, carrots, and mushrooms. The portions were bigger and the food just tasted all around better. We ordered a sushi roll combo and their spicy tuna and crunchy rolls were amazing. Probably some of the best I've had in the humble/kingwood area. I'm assuming they had an Asian guy that knew what he was doing back there making the sushi. The decor of the place was really nice and the server was very attentive to refill our drinks and take away our salad/soups when we were done. They were pretty empty when we ate so that might not be the case when they are packed. Unfortunately they were nowhere as busy as HB and that's too bad because they are worlds better. Never going back to HB. Give this place a chance and you won't either. Now if they only included...
