Blue Sky Bar — Restaurant in Athens-Clarke County Unified Government

Really cool bar in the heart of downtown Athens! Friendly and knowledgeable staff are always a perk when trying out a new venue. Blue Sky Bar is a perfect place to meet someone new for a drink, or the gather up with a large group of friends. The bar offers indoor as well as outdoor seating. It’s always nice to have options when weather permits. Drink prices are pretty much par for the course- the course being the vast number of other bar options in the area. One more cool thing (for those of us in the “older” crowd) is this is not your typical college-age bar. Late 20s and up should all feel comfortable in this atmosphere. As an adult - aka someone who graduated from UGA 17 years ago - I can say this is a great bar for grown ups in a college town. The bartenders are knowledgeable, the liquor and beer is varied and high quality and the setting is a little remote, up some secret steps, with gorgeous wood interior inside and a really cool outdoor deck open to the sky, with creative seating and strung with lights. When my husband and I are in town, we make it a point to drop by. He likes to try things off their extensive whiskey menu. I like exploring their creative cocktails. Sam, the bartendress, was great. My boyfriend likes stouts, which are hard to find. Blue Sky Bar had 3 and Sam was able to describe them so my boyfriend picked the best one for him. I am no fan of stouts but I tried it and thought it was great.

Then I asked for a jalapeño flavored beer. Sam said the bar didn’t have one but then she made two draft beers with spicy bitters for me to try💙.

We sat in a great booth that overlooked the campus.
