Where to begin? We came to IHOP around 11:15 p.m. on a Friday night and we were sat within 10 minutes. It was my first time eating at this IHOP in Athens as I usually go to the other restaurant on the Epps Bridge Highway. Unfortunately that one closes early and is not open 24 hours like this one is. The server came about 5 to 10 minutes after we were sat and took our order then had nothing but problems afterwards. It took 45 minutes for the waitress, Annie, to bring us our drinks. After walking by our table several times and not even looking our way I couldn't believe she hadn't realized that she forgot our drinks. After finally realizing her mistake she apologized and got our drinks within about 5 minutes. We then received our food about 10 minutes after that, but my wife's Chicken Florentine crepes was more like a chicken quesadilla. They did not have spinach nor tomato and they did not let us know they were out until after they brought the plate to the table. Totally unacceptable. Oh yes, I forgot in the beginning when we were ordering drinks that I wanted to order a couple of hot chocolates but she told me that she couldn't make any hot chocolate because they didn't have any hot water. You got to be kidding right? Anyways we settled on regular milk to drink with our meals that came about an hour after the fact. I will say that Annie was nice considering she knew we were upset and did offerd 20% off on the bill because of our problems. It should have been a higher discount but I just wanted to get out of there and not argue and left it as is. There were a couple of attentive servers that I could see at other tables that got their food and drinks more regular, but our experience was a disaster. Lastly there was no one at the hostess desk when we arrived and there were about 4 other parties ahead of us making it interesting figuring out who got there first. This IHOP need some serious management changes and tighter quality control. I doubt I'll ever return to this IHOP and go back to the one on Epps Bridge in the future. I'm sure every restaurant has good and bad nights but based on what I saw tonight I would bet that most patrons probably have issues with something rather than a smooth...
Read moreMy wife and I have both worked in the restaurant industry for over 10 years. We have an 8month old, a 2 year old, and 7 year old. Our waitress said we couldn't use high chair, so my wife held our 8month old in her lap. I ordered 4 waters in togo cups. Waitress brought ours in glasses, only togo cups for our kids. Waitress sat glass full to the brim of icy water down directly in front of my 8 month old daughter in my wifes lap. My daughter promptly grabbed the glass and tipped it all over herself and my wife. I usually tip very well because I know that taking 3 kids out to eat can be a hassle. My wife and I make sure that we clean up after them and they are normally well behaved. This was unacceptable. To seat us at a table where we are not allowed to have a high chair (she said it was a fire hazard) when we have multiple children with us, and then to ignore my request, or not listen enough to understand my request for all the drink in togo cups is just poor customer service. I know that kids drinks are allways in togo cups at ihop, so when I said to put the drinks in togo cups she should have assumed i meant all the drinks or asked me if i meant all or just the kids drinks. Instead she assumed that i was ignorant of basic restaurant SOP. My wife, now soaked with icy water hands our daughter to me and tries to dry off. She asks borrow a bar towel. The waitress offers her paper napkins. I know that in every restaurant I have ever worked at it would have been no problem to let a customer use a bar towel in that situation. Offering paper napkins is just insulting. My wife proceeded to the bathroom. You'll never guess what happens next. This idiot waitress brings another full to the brim glass of icy water to the table. There is water spilled everywhere that needs to be cleaned up, the table is a mess, Im holding my 8 month old and keeping my 2 year old from playing in the mess. I calmly informed the waitress that we would not be needing that glass of water. When my wife returned from the restroom we left as quickly as possible. Ihop is suppossed to have a reputation as a family-friendly establishment, but I was disappointed to say the least and do not plan to return to...
Read moreDo NOT COME HERE! The waitress here brought the wrong order to my kid. Didn't understand that vegan sausage was plant-based???Okay. Finally brought the right order. The sausage was over cooked. Then brought me the wrong pancakes with stuff on it that made them wet ( they called it compote-I only asked for blueberry pancakes I usually go to more expensive places for brunch but my mom wanted to come here. This, saying I am well aware of what compote should be). She eventually brought more pancakes- raw. While I waited forever for what ended up being raw pancakes; I ate the sides that came with my meal. There clearly was no way to know the second pancakes would come out raw. In the end, she "took off the pancakes" $2 whole dollars as if that was a favor vs taking off the meal charging $8 for the sides...ummm. The whole point of going to International House of Pancakes is....the pancakes. The GM was no better and allowed her staff to run amuck : terrible leadership ( I train leaders for a living and this was a mess). This of explains why this store was so quiet for a Saturday morning. . I'm from out of state so I wasn't aware of the terrible service and food. I assumed it was a chain and some standards were in place. Clearly not an assumption I should make. This is not at all about the money- who cares about $10- but the service and the lack of care about the...
